Turning DSG-box engine by hand?

Featured Replies

I know with a manual car you can leave it in 4th/5th gear, jack up the front end then rotate the engine by turning the front wheel clockwise.

Can you still do this with DSG? I.e leave it in D, jack up and rotate front wheel?

If not, what's the simplest alternative?

Why not try it and see.

Why do you want to turn over the engine?

Why the wheels turning as though in reverse at passenger side and forward at drivers of a right hand drive car ?

TSI with a dodgy intake manifold, so looking to de-coke the valves while the manifold is off.

I don't know for sure, but doubt that will work with a DSG, I doubt the clutch will be engaged.

Turns out it's easy to do with a 24mm socket. Just left a ratchet on a pulley bolt on the left side of the engine, then rotated it clockwise when I needed to.
