It really does IMO. Only the grill, mirror covers and roof rails on the estate are picked out in gloss black but it really adds to the stealth look on a dark car and as you can see from the Citigo, it really sets off a white car. I can’t think of a colour where I would not spec the black pack tbh.

My mod list might have grown one today. I know Skoda boot floors are rubbish and I bought the Octy for its space and practicality. I’ve been critical of the variable floor in the O3, and I still remain unconvinced by the design but even if it lives in the down position much of the time I would appreciate having it. Having done lots of research I haven’t found anyone who has successfully retrofitted one. I intend to do it anyway and I have ordered the floor, side trims, plastic runners and side carpets from a breaker (along with the tailgate trim as mine is damaged) which will be here early next week for the grand sum of £100. Once it’s all here I will attempt to fit it all in the car and report on my progress. The final straw came when I asked the Skoda parts guy the other day and he said it was ‘impossible’ to retrofit. I’ll show you sucker!!

I was able to nip over to my Dad’s today and get proper pics of the pair together for the first time. The little Citigo is still clean after it’s visit to Skoda for the first service (I made sure it went in clean and that they didn’t wash it!) and the big Octy is still filthy :(

Still love the little Citigo but the Octy is so much more grown up.

I have one of each too. Both great cars, love driving both for totally different reasons.

Both excellent cars that do ‘exactly what it says on the tin’ brilliantly!

Here are my two!

It’s true. I drove the Citigo today and it’s such great fun, far more chuckable than the Octy and it just puts a smile on my face even after 12 months. It’s being looked after by my other half now, but I do keep my good eye on the keys ;)

For some real fun I like to wheel out the ‘weekender’ :D

Nice.

Now that’s just showing off!!  ;-)

Variable boot floor retrofit should be interesting, looking forward to the updates on that project :)

Cheapest car of the 3 haha. Picked it up last May for £6500 as an early 23rd birthday prezzie to myself. Very early seeing as my birthday isn’t till July

I hope it won’t take too much head scratching to sort but the there are cut outs and gaps in the floor etc that just scream ‘there’s an optional extra missing’ so that more than anything bothers me!!

A couple of bits and pieces arrived today. Nothing major but they’ll hold me until the big bits start arriving.

I have never liked the cheap looking black 12v socket cover so I decided to get the car an Audi one :)

It looks a little odd on its own there but when you see it with the chrome climate wheels it looks spot on

A nice cheap upgrade :D

I think your OCD is showing :)

The second addition also isn’t that exciting but as the car doesn’t have a sat nav, on the occasional trip where I need it, I needed a solution.

It’s a tiny little mount so it can stay in the car for the times I need it. It also helps that the magnet is powerful enough to go inside the case so the nice designer case isn’t affected :)

Just waiting for the big stuff to arrive now and some decent weather to get it cleaned!!

Looks better! If you fancy some more chrome bits to finish off the interior/satisfy the OCD in you, may I recommend a thread I posted a few months ago :)

I have thought about it (I did a chrome light switch and auto lights mod on the Citigo to tie it in with the rest of the switches) but as the mirror control, window switches and headlight switch are all black I’m not sure if I’ll upgrade everything there but if some cheap bits surface I may change my mind :)

The light switch was pretty pricey to be fair! Mirror adjuster wasn't too bad. Never found an easily solution for the window switches as only the driver's one is available in chrome elsewhere.

I’ve noticed that. The other 3 doors have a switch they don’t use on the Golf/A3 etc which could come with a chrome bit on the switch.

However, attention now has to be turned back to the variable boot floor as it has arrived unexpectedly quickly! My son was quite taken with the package.

I decided to check everything was there and as it was, I mocked up the set up in the kitchen to get an idea of how it will all look.

The seller apologised and sent me a partial refund because the extra clip in side carpets had gotten damaged, but I can live without those until it’s all fitted. While I’m on holiday I’ll try and get in done over the next few days but I need to remove everything from my car and work out how to make it fit. Stay tuned for updates!

Good luck. I took the easy option and paid €194 when ordering the car.

Wow... That doesn't look like a 5 minute job!

Yep, the easy option would have been to buy the floor and some wood to support it near the folds, or not bother haha. It’s going to take some thinking about, but I am hopeful once I’ve stripped my car down to this level it won’t take too much head scratching :)

Yeah that was what I first thought of doing and I know it was you who did it, but I wondered if I could go one further and get it in properly. If I fail, your approach will be the one I take :)

Truth be told, i wanted to do it your way, but when I realized how many parts I needed to change in that rear trim... I went "hell, no!"

...respect to you if you do it. It is not impossible - just time-consuming and probably costly ;)

  • Author

Hopefully I have everything I need now. I did ask for everything from the donor car. For £90 it can’t be bad. It’ll cost a bit more now to get the damaged clip in side trims but I’ll keep the eyes peeled :)

Tell you what, Sasha, I read your thread and wonder whether your Octy will ever leave the production line! Skoda could actually learn a few lessons from your spec.

Fab looking Merc, by the way.
