How long did it take for your covers to arrive from China? Mine's getting on for a month now and still no sign

Exactly...

Average 20-30 days, superfast is <15, but sometimes 40+.

Exactly like mine. I have a black one, with a red line too, for a spare. This silicone feels so nice and gentle, I like it. Easy to wash and good to absorb impact on fall.

The only minus is some people laugh. Well...

Ahh, never thought to leave it until I stared moving again, that’d be cool. My Mercedes has proper mirror and seat memory so it moves back by itself. I’ll see if it moves back up by itself after moving over a few MPH. I much prefer having the mirror aimed down low on kerb watch if possible. Though the previous owner clearly didn’t bother!

Seriously considering the OBDEleven now! Wasn't even aware of it until yesterday afternoon.

Quick question though. I don't have an Android device, but I'm pretty sure my dad has an Android tablet lying around which could be 'borrowed'. Does the device need to have an internet connection when using it? I reckon I could use it close enough to the wifi from the house, but good to know either way.

Can't wait to have the power tailgate closing on the button as well as opening!

Does anyone know why manufacturers don't enable all the available options? I get that in some regions they may not be applicable/legal, but is it simply manufacturers making money on the extras list? Like why doesn't the lane assist hardware enable the HBA as standard?

It does require an internet connection. I use mine in the drive way and the WiFi signal from the house is strong enough to reach the car.

They dont enable everything because it would add to the base cost of the car. Sure it’s just a tick in a few boxes to activate now but the code didn’t write itself for free and the hardware didn’t design and manufacture itself for free either. The cost of those things are recouped through the options cost to the end user.

Yeah it does need WiFi to work sadly, I needed to get an Android device as there’s so much I wanted to change. If you can get one for £10-20 you’re laughing. They’re everywhere for sale on Facebook.

Makes sense. Will be nice to get the OBDEleven and go through it as if it's the options list  ;)

I'm on the hunt for a cheap or free Android now, will ask around at work too.

I was going to ask what the 'Easy remote' was on the OBDEleven product page. Having looked at it through fresh eyes, I can now see it's 'Easy remove'. That could have been embarrassing...

If you don't have wifi signal where you plan to use it, most modern phones have a wifi hotspot/tethering facility that can be used to provide "Wifi" to another device. I'm on the cusp of my wifi signal when I make my tweaks at home, so I often just drop it onto the 4G and it's spot on.

I have OBDEleven (not used it yet) ... I will soon when I get a free half hour, but how do the credits work? Say for instance, if I wanted to enable HBA how many credits would that cost? Ultimately if it proves it's worth it I will purchase the Pro-Code. Holding off at the moment as I also have Carista on the Beta program (free basically) so would like to see how it compares (not taking into consideration the fact that Carista cant do long coding...)

It should tell you how many credits it requires.

However, I’d be recommending you learn how to code it yourself. As someone mentioned above regarding Carista, it’s not immediately obvious what’s being changed with these one click apps. Unless OBDeleven is different of course. I personally have never used the apps and used guides on various sites to code myself.

I've no experience of OBDeleven, however I'd suggest that it's no comparison to Carista. I wasn't able to get some things to work with Carista that I could with VCDS.

Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't get Carista, though at least it works with an iPhone.

Fair enough, I will plug it in and see what it says. I used Carista quite a bit on my MK3 Fabia which was mostly successful, however I don't think it is quite as reliable for the Octavia hence why I have now purchased ODBEleven and plan to learn how to do coding!

Indeed, well it kind of works with an iPhone...I found that I couldn't get the Carista Adapter to work properly with my iPhone but a generic Wifi ELM adapter worked perfectly, I believe there might be an issue with iPhones and the bluetooth connection. I agree that I always found it a little worrying that It wouldn't show you what it was changing and the fact that you couldn't be 100% sure it would set it back to what it was originally if it didn't work!

That and its sometimes vague descriptions of the adaptations available!

In response to the questions, HBA is 100 credits which is £12.50 so you’re best off getting the PRO pack and doing the long coding yourself. It’s honestly really easy if you follow the instructions on the sticky in this section of the forum.

Ahhh OK - Yeah I will defiantly get the PRO Pack then! Thanks :)

Hi

are you able to decrease the sound actuator using the obdeleven?

misses doesn’t like it when I use sport mode. Thanks

  • Author

Yes you can, not sure how though. Think it has its own module to access to set the volume. I’d love to turn mine off in Normal mode only as I find it boomy whereas in Eco it’s fine but I get better MPG in Normal (now I’ve given it a fair test) and as mine is DSG I’m not a fan of the way the coasting mode works. I’d happily leave it on in Sport though. I think it’s just a set volume you can change in the settings though.

Yes you can change the sound with the OBDeleven. Think it was 10 credits if you want to do it the easy way. Or just press your vRS Mode button. Select individual then at the top of the screen press change. Set everything to sport if you want but choose ECO for your sound option.

The easy way?!? It’s not even difficult to do by yourself.

My car doesn’t have a sound option, only an engine option which is annoying as I wouldn’t mind the engine being in Eco, but not the DSG gearbox, I want that in Normal.

MIB 2 feature onwards that one :) sound is tied to the engine setting on MIB1 cars.

It's really simple to change the soundaktor volume; it has its own module and there's only 1 adaptation setting which is the volume. Makes sport and normal much more bearable and less boomy. I set mine to about 35%

I thought it only had the one module, is it the A9 module? It’s on my list of things to change. As is adding footwell lighting, doing full LED interior light conversion, LED plate lights (though I am going for the proper VAG modules) and a few other bits and bobs. First thing though is to fix a niggly fault that has appeared. Damn boot release is playing up and the car occasionally tells me the boot is open, then the message goes away, then comes back and the cycle repeats. It’s becoming a royal PITA so that’s front of the queue on the fix list!

Yep, A9 module and the adaptation is "volume of structure-borne noise actuator".  Footwell lighting is a fun retrofit, give me a shout if you have any issues with that. I had to ignore part of the coding suggested in the main thread for the footwell retrofit otherwise I had an error when I scanned the car. Hope you manage to get that boot issue sorted, sounds like a pain.

I recently had my Scout recalled for some work due to a manufacturing issue with the Boot Catch mechanism. Yours might be a bit old to be included in that though?

  • Author

Yeah my car has no outstanding recalls according to Skoda. It didn’t do it today, I gave the catch a good clean and I’ve seen nothing since.

I must be thick, but I can’t find the main footwell light retrofit thread now I want to look!! I’ll find it eventually I’m sure :)
