I didn't expect Hamilton t win today, after qualifying it looked like a Ferrari 1-2 in the race,

Max moved in the braking area, but seemed surprised when he got a penalty.

Max was wrong, was properly penalised and then behaved like the spoilt brat that he is when he was penalised. I suspect not much of that happened in the Verstappen household when he was growing up.

No, I'm not Max's biggest fan...

  • Ironically, the last time a backmarker took the leader out in F1, that backmarker was none other than Jos Verstappen

the way he's been driving in the first few races, it wouldn't be a surprise if Max ended up in the front row of the grandstand / marina

  • As usual the super-mature Max and Seb both laid the blame for their collisions on the other party. The stewards disagreed with those opinions.   W4nkers both.

Max continues to deny any wrongdoing and has blamed Bottas for the incident. Must have a different tv to me...

Max’s view of the world is always different to everyone else’s. 8-)

W4nkers both.

On Monza the fastest lap time is mainly about the engine, a bit about the chassis and for a very small part about the driver. The championship is about races, and lap records aren't the most important about that. When you check the speed traps results, it is very rare that the race winner, has the highest speed at the speed trap. The drivers capacity becomes more important when the circuit track is more challenging (read slower), and engine power is less important.

The pole position was about which Ferrari got a tow, but as Rosberg said after the race, the championship is actually about making less mistakes over a year than Hamilton does. On that the basis neither Max or Seb are going to win it any time soon.  Seb has the fastest car of the year and is 30 points behind at the moment - it's unlikely that he will have such a performance advantage next year as well. Max is going to have an even slower car next year when the Honda is in it, so I expect him to make more errors and crass decisions whilst trying to overcome that handicap.

Vandoorne binned for 2019. Norris gets the second Mclaren. Another seat Ocon won't get.

Toro Rosso isn't slower than last year with the Renault engine. The Renault engine is a real shame in the Formula 1, after every race when you look at the DNF's, there are often more than 50% Renaults engines, the same for the cars that got stuck in Q1 during qualifying. Renault is promising improvement for over 4 years, but still their improvement in power and reliability is less than for Ferrari and Mercedes engines in the same period. So I still expect the RB's next year will be closer to the top, and maybe during next year it will be equivalent to Mercedes.

About Max, he's not so explosive as his father, so there is an improvement in behaviour.

Look at the points table. Even with the hightly rated Gasly at the wheel, Toro Rosso are scoring less points compared with last year or 2015 -  both with Renault.

The Honda deal is going to be a disaster for RedBull next year. The slowest engine on the grid and the least mature #1 driver are not going to mix well.

The Honda isn't reliable either. They still throw new engines at the car often and take the penalties. No way to win under the current rules.

Riccardo has dodged a bullet even if the Renault potential isn't realised until '20 or '21.

Kimi out of Ferrari next year.

This year the C4 coverage is always live on eir sport 1 even if C4 themselves are only showing highlights. Hopefully next year too.

"I could also easily just say, let him go by and still have a great race and everybody says Max had an amazing race. But I am not there to finish fourth."

So you drive like a **** and finish 5th - well done you idiot!!!

Why can't he recognise his own errors and learn from them - but more than that, recognise them and move on?

I though he was making progress after his crash-every-week start to the season but it seems like he's actually regressing to the dangerous "weave in the braking zone" fool of 3 years ago. He's still not showing any sign of maturing into the team leader RedBull need (and they've just let go)

His comment about "I dont care if Seb passes me for 4th" in the race didn't show him as a team player either.

Surprised to see that Hamilton wasn’t far behind the Ferrari in practice. Mercedes must be finally starting to understand Singapore

its possible but Vettel, who's normally mega here, didn't set a time because he clipped a wall and abandoned his run. I suspect he will be a few tenths ahead of both Kimi and Lewis tomorrow.

The Mercedes still has the longest wheelbase of the top 3 cars and is the least manoeverable in tight corners. They can't eradicate that with setup tweaks.

Rumour has it that Mercedes has tweaked the aero package and enhanced the engine ‘party’ mode.

They are doing an amazing job considering they gifted Ferrari a couple of races early on (Oz and Bahrain) and no longer have the fastest car on either straights or laptime. If Mercedes or Hamilton do win titles this year they will be their hardest won yet.

WOW. Driver talent overcomes the fastest car on a street track.

It looks like Ferrari were complacent after their 1-2 in FP3. Neither of them on the front row.

Meanwhile, previous champ Button won for the first time since 2012 today in Super GT at Sugo, also taking the lead in the championship.

Another win for Hamilton on a track where Ferrari should have won. Vettel needs to starting winning and hope that Hamilton drops points if he wants the title.

Perez should try banger racing as he has a talent for it.

Vettel was controlled and positive before the race but looked like a totally beaten man on the podium. Have Ferrari shot their bolt?
