  • Ironically, the last time a backmarker took the leader out in F1, that backmarker was none other than Jos Verstappen

the way he's been driving in the first few races, it wouldn't be a surprise if Max ended up in the front row of the grandstand / marina

  • As usual the super-mature Max and Seb both laid the blame for their collisions on the other party. The stewards disagreed with those opinions.   W4nkers both.

Hamilton playing down expectations at one of his favorite tracks !

Maybe a 6 way fight with chances to overtake

I didn't watch it but was following on the BBC website. My, that sounded dull. Even the flag waver wanted to end it early ...

The BBC love-in with all things Hamilton distort their race reports.

It was superdull. Only Dani did a couple of position improvements of top 6.

Fortunately World Superbike races were great Superbikes 600s and 300/400s.

Isle of Man also incredible so not a autosport desert thankfully.

Unbelievably dull. On a track where overtaking used to be the norm too. No overtaking in the top 6 apart from the pitstop.

Alex Lowes finally won in WSB mind after the Kwackers took each other off.

It's RedBull-HONDA next year!

Pretty much inevitable after Hartley ,with the new spec ,outqualifiefd Gasly, with the old one, by over a second in Canada.  That's some performance gain.

What will Riccardo do now?

Has he got his foot in the door at Ferrari?

Or will he sign for RBR?

Would the pointy German allow Ferrari to sign the Grinning Loon?

Vettel regularly speaks out in favour of keeping Kimi, but Arrivabene and Marchione were quite clear last year that Seb is an employee, and they make the decisions.

Is Bo77as still at Mercedes next year ? Could they take Ricciardo and leave the Finn to fend for himself ?

Mercedes have no-one yet contracted for either of their 2 seats in 2019. Riccardo to replace Hamilton has been one idea on the internet.

Ocon is still a (Mercedes junior) possible replacement for Bo77as.

Amazing but 4 of the top 6 seats for next year are as yet unsigned.

Sport-Bild and other sources report Riccardo has been offered double Verstsppen's retainer (so 20 million dollars a year)...to drive for McLaren!

There’s a lot of “staff” problems at McLaren currently, a letter stating they had no confidence in the current management team was signed by many of the staff and sent to senior management

Would be a ballsy move, to McLaren.

But then a chap called Hamilton made an equally mad move to some Mercedes team.

Never know McLaren could do a BAR in 2020... Just got to have the right people and a tonne of luck.

Amazing things can happen during turmoil.

He should do the opposite of Alonso.

Liberty should just mandate grid, car swaps. Finish first, you start 20th in the last car, we might then get one race with grojean not having to worry about anything behind, along side or in front... Perhaps a nice circuit without walls, or corners...

Maybe a VR race too... One off, same chassis, anything else goes. Could be fun, of sorts.

Can you say "Paul RIcard"? ;)

The full Paul Ricard circuit was great, but the main straight is too long, so now it has a damn chicane, same as Le Mans. shame. Looking forward to the race though.

Only if you’re a complete Pernod 8-)

Autosport report Leclerc in pole position for Ferrari seat next year - Riccardo "too expensive".

With Petronas going to Motogp perhaps Hamilton going with them to bikes ?

I take it they aren't doing the bespoke bike thing this time!

"Lets get a slow F1 team to build a MotoGP bike" - that was a great idea in the pub at the time I'm sure.

Then, "Lets pretend it's a proddy bike and do WSB instead". That didn't go so well either.:D

Paul Ricard day 1. Hamilton fastest now he's got an engine upgrade. Lots of drivers spinning. Ericsson literally crashes and burns ( but he's fine).

Vettel got off lightly today. Stewards didn't investigate his second Lap 1 crash.  I couldnt work out who he pushed off (no replay on streaming).

Vettel got a 5 sec pitstop penalty for hitting the back of Bottas.

Yes he did.

And about 3 corners later he hit a different car off the track without punishment.

It may have been Grosjean.
