Octavia Mk II 2.0 TDi lock issue

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a Octavia Mk II 2.0 TDi Estate that has just developed an issue with the locks.

Before Saturday night, the only problem I had was with the range of the keyfob signal, but now it's acting strangely.

On Saturday, I nipped back into the house, leaving my partner in the car and the key in the ignition. When I returned the doors had all locked and the central switch wouldn't unlock them, so she passed me the keys through the window and I attempted to unlock the car using the fob, but it wouldn't work, it (and still does) unlocks but then quickly locks again. The only way to open the door is to use the key, or to catch it before it re-locks.

Once the door is open, all the other doors remain locked and the only way to open them is to press unlock on the fob and then use the central console button. If you try the console button without using the fob it has no effect.

The only door unaffected by all of this is the boot!

Anybody got any ideas please, as it's making things tricky, especially when trying to load the kids in and out of the car?

Thanks!

change the battery in the fob - also check the charge on your car battery

Thanks, it was the key fob battery.

Changed it and low and behold, the lock/unlock/lock problem has gone, and the fob works from several metres away now.
