9 times out of 10, yes. Sometimes it's a pain in the arse.

Agreed, when shunting / parking it's best switched off.

  • SO glad, that I will get one of the last 1.4’s so I don’t have to deal with GPF

  • Not sure what gains a 7 speed box will make, a digital dash would be a good bit of bling but not sure it will be worth the cost after the initial play with it. Then there is the cost of a drop in powe

  • I like it.

Autohold solves all your concerns

I got caught out with auto hold not engaging on a Passat CC. I'd taken my seatbelt off and auto hold does not engage without the driver wearing the seatbelt.  And if auto hold is not engaged, auto parking braking does not switch on. So as I got out of the car (a manual) it started rolling backwards!

I hope so too. The 7 speed dsg sounds promising also.

The two cars already built are both different colours to what I ordered and I'm not sure what options are fitted. I already annoyed him with my original deal and the discounted price, let's see what they can do now!

So I popped into my dealer's today. The two white ones he had said were built are not actually built! They are orders in the system but obviously have no planned production date.

My dealer tried to source me pre-built but non allocated 280's. They all came out too expensive compared to what I had ordered as they were all well specced up.

I've asked to try and get one of the factory accepted orders and said I'd wait it out and wait until production restarts. My dealer thought the 280 was discontinued, however I called Skoda UK and they confirmed it will go back into production but they didn't know when. The dealer and his manager were completely unaware of any changes due to the GPF and Skoda UK confirmed their info was rubbish so they hadn't passed it onto dealers :D

My dealer thought I was mad with my knowledge of the engine changes! I can't say that I disagree with him :D

So here's hoping!

So back in production as the 280 or the 272 (?), a number often posted on here and on other sites, I believe a Skoda press release too.

I contacted Skoda UK to enquire about the GPF and they said it was coming and orders for it will likely be taken in June or July.  Though they didn't have the info of when the order books would close on the current EA888 engines.  The other thing I asked about was the digital cockpit but they said it's unlikely to become an option on the Superb until late '18, maybe early '19.   Both things I wanted to know so I could decide whether or not to order ASAP or wait a while.

Ah well, not the end of the world (but close :))

I contacted Skoda UK to enquire about the GPF specifically and they said it was coming and orders for it will likely be taken in June or July.

The chap at Skoda didn't sound too sure himself. He kept mentioning the Octavia VRS 245 as well as the 280. I said I'd seen the 272 on the Czech site but he didn't have any answers unfortunately. It sounds like the info hasn't trickled through yet!

I just hope my order is accepted at the current price :D

From carfile.net it looks like 280tsi and 220tsi no longer orderable, but 1.4tsi still being accepted.

yep, just spoke to a dealer this morning as I wanted to try/buy a 220TSI and he said it's been discontinued only diesels available, FFS :(

For now I assume. Whilst we await new petrol engines with the new filter. Why on earth they are not available ready in time is a little baffling.

And it's not because you can't fit the new VW group 1.5TSI Evo engine because it's already in the Golf which is also MQB based. Perhaps the problem is with fitting the engines with the filters?

If there are Superb supply problems in the UK, it’ll probably be related to 1) massive demand for petrol over diesel 2) Bigger sellers like the Octavia, Fabia, Karoq being higher in the supply pecking order, and 3) the Superb being a comparatively small seller in the UK.

Its down to introduction of Euro 6d in June and the need to fit GPFs and recertify and retest all petrol engined models. Fitting a GPF is not simply a bolt on. Its a complex emission control like DPF needs regen management software. New engines have been required to replace older designs that won't make the grade. So this effects the Kodiak which used the now shortly to be discontinued 1.4tsi. It will also effect other VAG brands. Dont forget they also have massive euro penalties if they don't meet emission targets.

It hasnt helped that vw has been hit for $7.5 billon in the US

Dependant on country. Skoda refuse to acknowledge it's existence in the UK

Awaiting delivery of my MY19 L&K Superb Estate 150 SCR DSG, build WK34 (20/08/18).  Have been told (via live chat) that it takes about two weeks of production before it rolls off the end of the production line.  In effect that means if it starts on the last day of build WK34 then it could possibly take three weeks from the start of the build WK number to roll of the line !  As of yesterday it still showing "Status20" meaning that it is still in production.  Status updates start once the vehicle enters into the transportation stage.  Live chat also confirmed that MY19 changes to the Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq are going  "Live" next week.  Maybe that's why my local dealer has emptied most of his showroom for the arrival of MY19 vehicles.  We will see !

:o how did you get that out of them??? Just today I got "coming soon" same as I did over a month ago!!

I sarcastically asked them if they had any MY19 model spec change details yet or was it the usual fob of we have been hearing since June "we are expecting them soon".  I nearly fell of my chair when they told me "Going Live" next week.

Just spoke to customer services, as the "Live Chat" was down, and got an update on my vehicle, MY19 L&K Superb Estate 150 SCR DSG. It has been built and is now at "Status 30", awaiting transportation from the factory.  Was told it would take about a week to arrive at Emden and a further week to arrive at Grimsby.  I will keep you informed of it's progress with reference to transportation times as it may be helpful to others.

From various Golf R forums, I think the main difference is the 7th gear and revs/economy at motorway speeds.  Seems to be around 2k revs at 70 whereas the current 6 speed is 2.5-3k revs at 70 (on the Golf R)

Other people have commented on improved shift times but I find it hard to imagine that anyone would be able to detect the finite differences involved.

I previously had a MKII Superb 170 with a six speed DSG box.  I currently drive a Polo Beats 1.2 fitted with a seven speed DSG box.  It is definetley an improvement over the old six speed box and almost as good as the Lexus LS400 auto box.  You can't detect any gear changes whatsoever unless you are looking at the rev counter.  Sixth gear is achieved at 31mph and seventh gear at 37mph.  According to my TomTom those speeds are 29 & 35 respectivley.  Hope this may be of some help to those getting the seven speed DSG.

The 7 speed wet clutch DSG in the Golf R of course is a different dual clutch gearbox to the dry clutch 7 speed DSG in your Polo. The one in your Polo is probably the same as in my 1.4TSI DSG Superb III. Which I also had in an Audi A3 1.4TFSI before the Superb. I had no problems with the dry clutch 7 speed DSGs.

What a coincidence. I am also waiting for a MY19 L&K Superb Estate 150 SCR DSG build week 34. I had an email, this morning, from my dealer, confirming my car is now in transportation and should be available, all being well, for collection on 28th September. I would imagine the two cars will be travelling together to the UK .

Does anyone know if the 2.0 TSI 140 kW is confirmed for the uk and Ireland? It says that engine is coming kw48 on page one of this thread. When is kw48?

Cheers!

Having heard rumours about long waits (6m) for Kodiaks I spoke to the business sales manager while my car was in yesterday to see if we needed to do anything about my replacement yet - rumours are not correct and waits apply to petrol caused by the new testing coming in.  Has really hit the new business hard as they have not been able to get new cars.  Has hit some of the lease companies very hard.

They didn't have a new Kodiak or Karok on the site, the Kodiak in the showroom had 8k miles on it.

There had three unregistered Superbs - all diesels.  Only two second hand S3s on the site.

New spec Superbs should be around in a month or so (before I order mine).

There is a new Octavia next year which will be bigger than the current model, and probably when they introduce the electronic parking brake.  If prices are right it may be an alternative for me.

Because of the delays with petrol engines, due to changes to fit particle filters and WLTP, is exactly why I went for diesel. Ironically diesels push less CO2 into the atmosphere and with ad blue I believe the newer diesels are a lot cleaner. After all this time they now decide petrol cars need a type of particle filter as well. All of the confusion and inaccurate reports are causing a lot of harm to the industry.

Having just read an interesting article in Auto Express I think I made the right decision when I plumped for the Octy245.

Good points about the Superb tested (2.0Tsi 220 DSG Sportline) were it's performance figures despite having only a claimed 214bhp at 4,500rpm and 350NM at 1,500rpm the 1,450KG Skoda performed well.

0-60MPH in 7.0 seconds.  30-70MPH in 5.3 seconds. Top speed 152mph and 1,900 revs at 70mph on the motorway.

However despite a combined economy quoted figure of 43.5MPG the car on test averaged just 32.5MPG giving a range of 472 miles on it's 66 litre fuel tank. My 302bhp Octy manages that range on 16 less litres of fuel.

Whereas my Octy is expected to lose £15,000 over three years and 36,000 miles the Superb will fall from £30,570 new (basic no options) to just £10,700 in the same time, losing £19,871. The Superb is group 25 insurance and the Octy group 29. So you will end paying around £400 a year more on fuel as well.

Nobody gave test figures for fuel use or Co2 g/km for a vehicle on the road with people in the seats and stuff in the luggage space.

Not in any weather, world region or with the different types of drivers or speeds around the EU. (What has 56 mph to do with anything?)

http://skoda.co.uk/pages/fuel-consumption-statement.aspx

WLTP / RDE is still nothing to do with vehicles loaded with people, or tyres at pressures that people might drive them at if not loaded or being tested...
