Vrs Petrol discontinued

Was just thinking of buying a Vrs Petrol and heard has been discontinued. Is that true and does anyone know why? Is the diesel on way out as well? Thanks

It’s true, plenty of discussion on it. Nobody really knows why it’s being done, but you can still order a diesel.

As of 1300 yesterday there was an extremely well specced brand new  VRS 245 at Sandicliffe Leicester, only lacked DCC at £25250

Don't know if currently unavailable to order in the UK is the same as discontinued? I believe they will be available again soon, a matter of weeks. If it was all about GPFs by the way why can you still order a Golf GTI with exactly the same engine?

Nah. Still selling petrol VRSs in other markets.

That doesn't mean that VW don't get first call  - if the engines are in short supply the first brand not to get them is Skoda, and since one of the largest markets for Skoda is the UK that's one of the first markets they stop deliveries to. Other countries may follow...

 

Simple economics - VWs make more margin than Skodas.

Just checked the Skoda Configurator - and looks as though the 245 has been discontinued, but the 230 still looks available..see image

I was told by a dealer that they were told that the 230 model was left on the configurator to help shift remaining stock

Skoda UK website has an Octavia price list dated February 2018

both the 230 and 245 are on the price list

 

Therefore if they have been pulled (and 245 is off configurator) must be an unplanned change

so my guess is this temporary (is there an engine production problem ?)

otherwise why include it in Feb 2018 price list (so it was clearly intended to be on sale)

Possible I suppose... and sad if its true!  Likely the 2.0TSI will be replaced with a lower powered engine to meet the new emissions regulations.

I think the speculation and hear say in here is getting a bit ridiculous now. 

 

Nobody knows what the exact reason is. That’s as much as we know.

The only emissions in brochure are CO2 (nothing on NOx, particulates etc)

 

The diesel 2wd was in band G (111-130), the diesel 4x4 and petrols in band H (131-150)

 

If anything the diesel will have tax problems with first year bandings, no current tax problems with the petrol, (opposite to what has been stopped).

So clearly not emissions related (and existing models don't need to change to new measuring system straight away), which suggests engine supply problems are most likely to be a reason

VAG have already stated they will have all petrols fitted with a GPF by the time the new regs come in even on current models. 

 

They can't afford Petrol models being anything other than 100% complaint.

 

When the Petrol VRS goes back on sale it will have GPF.
