Bolts for rear numberplate

Featured Replies

My rear numberplate is currently attached with sticky pads. These pads are failing, so I'd like to attach the plates using the holes + captive nuts built into the car (mine's an estate). Can anyone advise what type of bolt is needed for these nuts?

Think they are a M8 size.

I just went on ebay & got a set of the plastic number plate bolts,  99p

Thanks, the plastic number plate bolts did the job for me - although the holes aren't very deep so I had to cut mine down to size.

I had to do the same.... plus I had to colour one of the bolt head in half black cause I sat over a letter on my plate and it annoyed me :D

You mean the dealer didn't just drive two self tappers straight through the car ?

Absolutely standard practice here

****es me right off

..............and it's even worse when they do this or use Pot Rivets and the number plate isn't level.

This p155ed me off as well until I discovered that captive nuts are fitted at build. Front one is drilled through the bumper but not so bothered as it is plastic.

I always insist on stick on plates.

ps - my nearest dealer spoils all his plates with a green border. It looks awful. One day I heard the parts man ordering up a special order with a black border as the customer was refusing plates with a green border on his new car. Quite right too.

Green border? Wtf.

Any border is naff. Political statements are implied.
