2015 OCTAVIA SCOUT 2.0 TDI MANUAL

I’ve recently purchased the above and have found the Amundsen fitted has issues:-

Issue 1

The mode button when pressed does not bring up the options on the screen even though the button seems to be working. The light on the button is permanently illuminated.

Issue 2

The sat nav did not work so I updated the software from the Skoda update portal and followed the instructions. The sat nav now works fine when the base unit is warm however first thing the display reads (please inset a valid medium with valid navigation data).

Head unit part number 5Q0035874A

Hardware H25

Software 0245

Nav Database N/A (when not working)

I do like the way the Octavia drives however my previous Astra H estate 1.9cdti (150) had more grunt low down. That may have something to do with the EA189 which I assume has already been completed as Skoda says no action is required.

Any comments regarding the faults would be welcome.

Regards

Might be a good idea to change the thread title to something more relevant like 'Amundsen issues'

At the moment the thread title is your username.....

Sorry I can't advise on your stereo issue, but the 2.0 engine is very linear in its power delivery - its the same in the vRS.

On this engine this is where a tuning box or remap really brings back that shove of torque in the lower rpm band.

I'm not sure the 2L engine was affected by the emissions fix update, it was only the 1.6tdi I think.

For the Amundsen issues, where did you buy the car from?

As the navigation wasnt working at all because the maps were not correctly loaded I guess its not an from a Skoda garage.

Ideally, I would say go back & ask them to investigate.

Thanks for the replies.

The car was a trade purchase from an independent garage. However the car still has 5 months Skoda warranty left and I suspect this is where it may end up if I am unable to resolve the issue myself. I am reluctant to have garages work on my cars because they unwittingly introduce more faults while attempting to correct the reported fault.

Had a tuning box fitted to my previous car for a short while and all that did was to increase the fuelling to such an extent that it produced much more soot and wet the exhaust tail pipe with unburnt fuel. It did have slight improvement in torque and a reduction in high end power depending on the settings. Not something I would recommend for a modern diesel with egr and dpf fitted.

Still trawling through the many previous faults to see if anything is relevant before removing the system for inspection.

Could be a wrong assumption, the maps weren't working on my Amundsen when I bought nearly new from a Skoda franchised dealer - they couldn't sort it out so I bought a genuine Skoda SD card off eBay and sorted it myself much to their amazement...

That's what I like to see resilient owners.

The map update was straight forward; I download the zip file from the Skoda portal and unzipped straight to the SD card (16g) after reformatting the SD card for NTFS.

A genuine Skoda SD card?

It was the card that came in the sat nav but it did have a Skoda label on it so I presume it was a genuine.
