Clutch? Question

Featured Replies

Hi again!

So picked up my 2013 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo on Thursday last week and I noticed every time i change gear and release the clutch pedal there’s a click noise.

when I’m in neutral going into first it’s one click, when I change from any other gear to a diffent one there’s a double click.  It might be nothing , it drives perfect but this noise is so annoying . Even more so now I’m listening for it.

Anyone else have this? Is it normal or is there a problem.

i emailed the garage and he said it’s because the weather has been hot and the mechanism needs greasing! I told him I don’t think that’s the problem and he told me they will look at it.

My 06 fabia vrs does the same since its got hotter. Think its to do with the spring on the pedal sticking against the plastic so probably nothing to worry about.

Also, they have a clutch switch at least, on some models, that reduces the power if you keep revving when changing gear... Might just be that! Also, they have a clutch switch at least, on some models, that reduces the power if you keep revving when changing gear... Might just be that!

Garage had a look today and they said the gear cable? Was catching on the heat shield or something along those lines. They fixed it for me and now no more clicking sounds :)

Hum, they do pass close to or touch the heat shield just forward of the gear stick, I've been looking in that area on my wife's 2015 Polo for a reason for some slight noises when the engine has heated up.

This happens regularly on my 15 plate VW Up!. I can temporarily fix it by holding the clutch pedal down with my right and kick the carpet trim with my left foot. Seems to be a VAG group "free" extra.Nothing to worry about. Dealer who said about grease is a nut-nut.

Funny that it clicks when letting the clutch go, then... I'd have thought it would click on engaging the actual gears. Perhaps its just "Take-up" slack.

Funny also, how my earlier reply repeated its-self!
