I took delivery in February, and after a Roomster and two Yeti's I have decided my Karoq has no soul, it does everything very well, but it has no, I don't quite know how to explain it, charm, quirkiness, difference? It just seems generic VW white goods, boring, that's what it is, efficient, comfortable, but boring. But on a plus side, if it is as reliable as it is boring it will do everything it is supposed to do.

Agree. But I think the problem is that coming from two Yeti's - like I also did - they had the soul/spirit/verve that the Karoq is missing. It's just too damn perfect.

Must you, Agerbundsen?
I won't be getting mine before spring.

I think that hits the nail on the head, although I might state after some thought, extremely competent but bland.

2 actually.

1. Disabling Interior Monitoring

I recently had the need to disable the interior alarm monitoring system.  What a palaver, whereas in previous vehicles I only had to press a push button to disable the interior sensors, on the Karoq (Amundsen) I now have to:

  1.  First press “menu” on the right-hand side of the unit.
  2.  I then have to press “vehicle” on the resulting screen.
  3.  Following this I then press “settings” in the bottom right hand corner of the next screen.
  4.  Using the right-hand knob, scroll down the menu until “opening & closing” appears.
  5.  Press the “opening & closing” box.
  6.  Uncheck  “interior monitoring” on the list of actions on the next screen.

Essentially 6 operations to turn off the interior monitoring when the press of one push button would have been far easier!

2. Position of Window Switches on Drivers Door Arm Rest

Does anyone else have to bend their wrist nearly 90in order to operate the window switches on the driver’s door whilst resting their arm on the rest?  I know I may have a long forearm but unless I push my elbow back between the side of the driver’s seat and centre door column, where I can then operate the switches with ease, I have to bend my wrist considerably in order to operate the switches where they are currently positioned!

To disable interior monitoring you can touch the door sensor twice and it disables it, just like if you hit the lock button twice

Well I never, thanks don for that info, saves me having to remember all those procedures in the future!

don_kiddik,

Did you find this out by chance, or is it written down somewhere in the manual? Either way it's a great bit of info as I was in the same boat as MSkent above. The only reference I can see in the book is the long drawn out palaver using the touch screen. When you mention hitting the lock button twice, do you mean the interior door locking switch above the centre console?

My old Passat (2001) had the interior motion sensor deactivation switch in the drivers door, as does my wife's newish Q3 -  why chance such a simple design?

I mean the sensor on the drivers door  handle, did you know that if you slide your hand down the handle twice it will open all doors rather than the drivers (assuming you have selected one door opening). Also you can do it by hitting lock symbol twice on the key fob

Ah, thanks for that _ I'll give it a go.

No lashing eyes in the boot. We have an electric coolbox that we take shopping and have to use a bungie rope from a top tether point to a bag hook. Looks a bit crude. PS I don't know how to spell Bungie!!

Bungee I think. But we know what you mean!

Hi Bowdie,

Not sure if you have the spare wheel & raised floor, but there are four lashing points in the boot area - but, they are so low down that when the raised floor section is used, they become impossible to use properly. I have the lower cargo net in use, but I had to attach it to the lashing points first, then slide the floor section in, then slide the reversible floor mat in likewise.

I think something like these Karibiners with straps might do the trick - https://www.mountainwarehouse.com/walking/equipment/carabiners/karabiner-with-strap-p10874.aspx/Silver/?utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GB+Whoop+-+All+Products+-+Desktop+-+SHOPPING+UK&utm_term=&utm_content=s|pcrid|249777979350|pkw||pmt||pdv|c|slid||product|021135046001|&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzLa6gbPE3AIVrLftCh2nWA1QEAQYBSABEgJ3NPD_BwE

The attached 14cm strap might just bring them up above the floor. For £2.99 it might be worth a punt - I'll get some & let you know, as I'm in the same boat as you.

Quick update on the above. I been out and bought four of these karabiners from Mountain Warehouse (actually two for one, so £5.98 in total), and they do the job ace. The karabiner part sits above the raised floor and load liner, so the netting system then clips on to these easily. Obviously the spring ring? is the weakest part and not anything like as strong as the actual lashing rings, but would be fine for something the weight of a cool box etc (these could easily be replaced by threaded u-bolts) - therefore I can accept no liability if you intend to strap down something like a lawnmower or pygmy hippo!

the clutch biting point can be a little tricky and you lose revs which makes it hard to get off the mark quickly.  Maybe I just need more time to get used to it but it feel like I need to gun it at a very specific point on the clutch or the revs drop off really quick which can result in a stall.

That sounds like the issue I have sometimes with first gear and getting away without it lerching, sometimes the revs drop and it’s as if an anti stall measure kicks in.

A small one but the parking ticket holder. Can it be removed and put on the passenger side? Don't want to yank on it if it's fixed.

It's fixed behind the trim. You'd need to remove the trim to get at it.

Surely it would be more of an irritant on the passenger side as it would involve leaning across with parking tickets?

I just don't really want or need it. Can see it in corner of my eye and would prefer it not there but never mind.

The automatic rear wiper until I found out where to deactivate it...
