It’s arrived and it’s brilliant

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I took delivery of my Sportline 190 DSG on Wednesday. Nearly 400 miles in and I am so impressed with it. It’s a world away from my Fiesta ST-3 MP215 but both great cars in their own class.

Here come some (probably stupid) questions.

1, does the gearbox always start in normal mode despite programming the key to the car whilst it’s in eco?

2, I have set the drivers seat and memorised it to setting one. I have it at its lowest position. When I get in the car it will always go down another inch or so when I press the down button. Why won’t it stay where it was before I got out.

3, I have selected the option to lower the pax mirror when revers is selected but it won’t do it automatically. What am I not doing right?

Any help will be gratefully recieved and im sure I’ll have more deftness to pose to you soon.

1. Yes it does.

2. Dont know about that one but there is info on here somewhere. Someone else will be along

3. You need to have the mirror selector set on the left mirror to get the auto lower function

Welcome to the wonderful world of the S3

If you want to use the DSG in Eco do it via the Mode selector and then individual and set to Eco, it should then stay in that mode.

Others seem to have problems with seat coming back up a bit there are  few threads you might look up.

Mirror dipping only occurs when you have the adjust sector to that side, ie leave the dial pointing towards the L mirror I occasionally forget after using the mirror heating/demisting

For mirror to go down when reversing you need the mirror adjust switch in L

At least you do in my S2 Superb

i have seen there a tread about this "new feature",

mine 2016. week 8. does remember E

Just remember to save the dipped mirror position using the seat memory. Otherwise it will disappear when you turn the ignition off.

I spent quite a bit of time wondering why the door mirror didn't go back to normal position when I took it out of reverse only to be informed that this doesn't happen until you drive off & reach a speed of 15kph!

Not a fan of this, much preferred the system on my old Mk1 Superb that 'followed' the gear selection, as sometimes you need to have the normal view prior to starting off.

I'm the same and find it is dangerous when parked on the right hand side of a street, which is not always facing oncoming traffic that is not recommended, as you can be in a one-way street or on the continent and parked with the flow of traffic driving on the right.  You look in the nearside mirror and all you see is the road for a few feet behind you.  OK, you can turn the mirror setting to R, for instance, and the mirror comes back up, but then you need to turn it back again, otherwise you can't understand why it's not dipping the next time you reverse!

Just turn the mirror switch out of "left"

where's the pics of ur new ride?

I was going to save the pics until I have given it a proper clean inside and out. I will start tomorrow with a wheels off detail of the arches and the wheels themselves and then complete a decontamination and wax of the outside. Maybe Friday for the interior. Here it is when I collected it 31DDB294-3D40-421B-AA93-C5C53EE64B65.thumb.jpeg.52c07d3d9971e0716738a2e988a82cd1.jpeg

I think mine is about 1/2" but yes this is a known "feature" that the seat won't remember positions at the limits

I guess I’ll just have to get used to the extra height in the seat base. it’s not the end of the world.

I have given that a go. Be it in Individual or Eco it still defaults to normal. The Columbus screen says that it’s in the mode it was last in but the gear notification on the dash always shows it to be in D until I change it manually.

I just get into the habit of pressing the down button as I set off or any time I notice it.

Tried individual and reverts to D after engine is shut off.

Another question. Do all VAG cars come with wax on the sills and wheel arches as standard? I have never know a car like it! I have just started a detail of the wheels and arches and its everywhere

Mi Lazer white sport line has loads of wax left on the sills, but ime leaving it on as it’s extre protection and to Lazy to remove

I dont mind the protection at all and it’s not noticeable due to the car being white. The annoying part is that it was hidden by the dirt and has wrecked my wash mit and brushes. They were for the arches only so I guess it’s an excuses to get new ones for the body work and move all the others down the line.
