Only 9mpg less than our 148bhp petrol Karoq.:giggle:

The 1.5 karoq I sat in was averaging 34mpg, over 1200 miles, so I ordered the diesel.

Perhaps it was driven over short journeys or in town quite a lot?:notme:

If I’m reading it right, to get similar mpg to a diesel, the 1.5. Has to be in eco mode,  so less responsive than in sport mode,  be interested to see a diesel in eco mode results

We always have our 1.5Tsi in sport using the individual mode. This gave its best maxidot reading of 63.2mpg. Also 58.7mpg last Sunday.:tongueout:

Is the individual sport mode setting retained between journeys ?

I have a Karoq Sportline 2.0 TDI 4x4 with just over 1k on the clock. On my 9 mile (each way) daily commute down B roads i'm getting between 38-42 MPG which TBH i'm not too impressed by. Motorway runs bring around 46mpg. Driving around town it is doing 35! I'm also taking it easy and in ECO mode. Can anyone offer any advice on whether this should get better with mileage? I previously had a 2017 Tiguan 2.0TDI which would do 50mpg on the commute without breaking a sweat!

Was the Tiguan a 4x4? You will take a bit of an MPG hit for that but not as much as you indicate.

For the rest of the difference, remember that your engine isn't going to give its best mpg until it has done a few thousand miles at least. Plus, on a 9 mile drive you are only just getting the oil up to temperature. So, young engine, lowish oil temp, 4x4 - I wouldn't get concerned just yet.

Run it in well and the mpg should go up. There's some good run in advice for diesels on the honest John site - it seems to pretty much match what I was told by a TDI specialist. Keeping it in eco and the RPM low isn't the best thing - Running in a diesel

Thanks - I never had to do this with the Tiguan but i'll give it a go over a few hundred miles. Used the revs more on the way home - 35mpg

In the winter I was getting around 42 /44 mpg, now its 44 / 46 around local runs. At the Easter weekend a 415 mile run to Clacton and back down the A1/ A14 at a steady 65 ish   it made 52.3. The car has done just over 12,000 mls. I am happy with it.

No better mpg than the OLD  super STREAMLINE yeti, what a disappointment.

I hope you are squeezing in a longer run than your regular commute to ensure a complete DPF regeneration. Several incomplete regens in a row would absolutely kill consumption.

If I were in your situation I would get a cheap ODBC plug and load the DPF app on your phone to monitor what is happening. I know that does not explain the difference in consumption between your previous Tiguan and your Karoq but at least you will then have more information on this particular factor in this vehicle.

Take it out of ECO mode. I found that it used more fuel.

We only run ours in Sport mode and economy seems ok at around 44mpg on local runs, 7-8 miles mainly.

Thanks, I'm going to run in sport mode for a while and see if it improves.

Not really concerned by the short journeys and DPF, never had an issue in the past 10 years of VAG diesels. It gets a long journey every few weeks...

320 mile round trip on A/B roads over the weekend (maybe 10 miles in the city). 51.2 mpg average with the car in ECO mode. On the return leg, average mpg was 53 and average speed 41mph. I'm happy with that.

The 2.0TDi 4x4 is starting to give good figures for long runs. We averaged 51mpg on our 1700 miles tour of Scotland last week, with the run up to our cottage being particularly impressive.

That’s a cracking return given the 55mph average......

It was a good run. No traffic to speak of so we sat on the cruise control at the appropriate limit. On single carriageways, I was able to drive economically by lifting off early etc due to light traffic.

But yes, very happy with the return and measured average was slightly higher. (I had the fuel consumption properly calibrated by VCDS)

I averaged 54.1 this weekend, 160 miles of A roads and some motorway mileage, average was 44mph.

2.0 4X4 with 5k miles on the clock, always in sport mode, I never use eco in any of my cars 👍 Life’s too short!!

Some time ago someone posted that if you add the mpg to the average speed and get an answer greater than 100, then you are doing very well. I think that is a very good marker even though adding miles per gallon to miles is a meaningless concept.

getting avg  30mpg in my 2.4 v6 A4 cab lol

and just waiting for my 20 tdi 4x4 scr dsg
