Sport suspension option

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I've been looking for OE replacement shocks for my car and stumbled upon these, https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/6q0413031bl-front-shock-absorber-oe-27726.html part number 6Q0 413 031 BL

The description says "intended for vehicles with a sports undercarriage" so I thought there were meant for the "Sport Suspension" option that comes standard with Montes, so it looked like an upgrade for me, then checked a picture I had and my shock part number also ends in BL, does this mean my car has the Sport Suspension option? If so what else changes?

Thank you.

Ive had fitted today Monroe OEspectrum sport rated front and rear, they have a 5 year warranty on 742042SP front and 376041SP rear.

Amazon seller simply car parts, front £128.65 a pair, rear £102.00

first impressions is good, their fairly stiff, not as stiff bilsteins

See my project "sleeper"

Thank you for the input, but I would like to know what I have first before changing.

My is a 2011 Fabia mk2 elegence 1.2 tsi.

According to Sachs website 312 594 is their equivalent as is the Monroes I've quoted are their equivalent but at sports rating, they also do heavy duty versions.

Your options are OE or third party equivelents from Monroe , kyb, bilstein, or any other third party you care to mention.

My are also E4998 and E1309 the Sachs site shows a range of equivelents.

I'm trying to find out if my car has the sport suspension or chassis option, on the boot I have both G04 and L11 options.

I understand that a sport option usual has different springs, shock absorber and bumpstop. I don't know exactly what those codes mean but I've  checked mine and I've not got those code options on my Elegance.

On that basis I assume mine is standard suspension but now has sports rated shocks. Also I had replaced all suspension bushes with polyflex polyurethane ones. Which did  stiffen my suspension and the shocks has now increased the stiffness.

Another difference between the photo you posted shows grooved discs whereas mine doesn't. That may be another sports option, I now plan to make a disc change to grooved ones as part of project.

Hope this helps,

There was no 'Sports Option' on the Mk2 Monte Carlo & vRS got what Skoda called 'Sport suspension'.   On Stilts suspension.... Lost in translation.

(like sports seats, like a Rapid Sport which is not....)

and then it was a dealer option if you wanted Eibach lower springs fitted and they fitted them at the dealership.

I have ambi tsi neither Monte Carlo or vrs, and someone on a thread mentioned their Monte Carlo had G04 and L11 boot codes while someone with a 1.2 had G02, I was just wondering if indeed my 1.2 tsi has the sport suspension. And yes even without the springs fitted it was very crashy.

Btw do you have the G02 code?

And the brake disk are brembo max line, very cheap, cost me about 50£ a pair.

Yes I used that website before, but on the parts catalog this is what it says, so I should have "lowered running gear" which I think is the sport suspension.

I think you may just have lowered springs. My car has lowered suspension to lower the drag co-efficient to a small degree but the shock, as far as I know, are bog standard shocks and most likely fairly low budget standard equipment. The springs just sit the car a little lower. Yu will only notice alongside a standard set up.

So you are saying the shocks from code G02 and G04 with different part numbers could have same piston length or be the same shock?

All shocks are same length but have different spring rating in that G04 be firmer than G02 or vice versa both will have the same travel. With lowering springs the car will sit the lowering drop further down the shock.

Btw VAG shock are known to leak so change to better quality third party shock.

VAG are single tube shocks, better quality are twin tube

For reference mine had G02 shocks

So even tho Bilstein B4 are "OE" replacement, they are indeed better ?

Yes, so are kyb, monroe, Sachs

from my memory 6mths ago....

the lowered springs made by Eibach had quite a few more turns on the springs to make them stiffer, i threw away the originals so I cannot show them.

At first glance, I think your car has had its springs replaced because they arent a cheap black colour and look reasonably new.  When I googled your springs, it came up with H&R ones, so I would say you have lowered springs on your car.  Your shocks just look standard and are therefore unlikely to be anything to do with sports, as Offski said, only the springs were a dealer option.

Yup! They google as being H&R Sports springs for Golf 6, Leon and Fabia.

Forgot Koni.

Globalste Mrgf well spotted, his car has had ,possibly , a Dealer fitted sports option of lowering springs with standard shocks.

Whereas mine is now standard springs with me having sports shocks fitted.

Sorry I think I expressed myself the wrong way, yes they are H&R springs that I've fitted, what I wanted to know is if my car had the "lower" monte carlo setup (about 10mm or so) that also comes with stiffer front anti-roll bar (19mm or 20mm) instead of the regular 18mm.

But by examining the original shock part nº, the original spring color codes I think it came with the "sport" or, on stilts as Offski put it, because my idea was fitting the socks that came with the monte, and anti roll bar but now I see there is no reason for that.

How does it behave with sport shocks and original springs?

Yes but a Monte's shocks have a different part nº to a base Fabia that's why I was confused.

The car is a lot firmer than before fitting, bear in it was already stiffer for having polybushes fitted.

My elegance has a 19mm ARB fitted as standard.
