Skoda Felicia - Engine Cuts Out

@Thefeliciahacker - OK, I've remembered using a small (low capacitance) capacitor attached to a coil LT terminal back in the day. Its function was to stop a "tap tap tap..." noise being heard on the radio. It had no effect on the running of the engine.

men maybe you are right but in my last spark plug assembly something was swollen and given that nor coils nor transistors can get swollen i suspected it was a capacitor
But i couldnt break it apart to see as it is poted with resin

Please understand that the more experienced members of this forum section will not allow technical mistakes to pass as truth. Of course the debate will rely only on technical arguments and objective proof.

Just to give you an example, the photo below (that I used in another topic) shows the electronics of the coil you referred to. There is no electrolytic capacitor inside. In fact you could have guessed that by thinking at high temperatures and vibrations the coil has to withstand during operation. Good caps are rated at maximum 105 C. The coils fail mainly due to bad MOSFETS.

In conclusion, you are welcome to pass reliable information but try to stay away of misinformation.

I actually know quite a lot about electonics and i know for a fact that you can easily create a spark with a high voltage polysterine capacitor charched by a switching circuit
but ive never seen a picture of the insides of the spark plug assembly
It seems like a push pull circuit based on n channel mosfets
Yet again i dont see what my have gotten swollen in my case

This probably isn't the "solution" you're looking for but ours used to stall and refuse to start occasionally. We used to open the driver's door, stand on the sill and bounce up and down vigorously for a bit. It always started after this.

That solution will go to my notebook of car repair jokes. I wonder what prompted you to try that in the first place...

bad grounding you shake the car and it touches again

Really? What is this? A scene from "Dumb and Dumber" on Fred Flinstone's car?

not unlikely

Have anyone adjusted valve clearance on it? These cars don't have hydraulic tappets, so valve clearance have to be set manually every ~10k miles.

Haynes Manual says every 15000 Km.

Some 990 days ago, Papez said (once) the interval is approximately 10,000 miles which is more or less 15,000 km.

8030 days ago Haynes Manual wrote about checking and adjusting the valves ''Every 12 months, regardless of mileage" but in Greece nobody does this.

Does anyone Felicia owner here does it annually?

15 000km = 9 300 miles. That's around ('~'symbol) 10k miles. Was it necessary to bump 2yr old thread for this?

Obviously you didn't get my point, i didn't post for the conversion of miles to Km but for that:
Haynes Manual wrote about checking and adjusting the valves ''Every 12 months, regardless of mileage"

Does anyone Felicia owner here does it annually?
Everything i post has a meaning for me and it's done in purpose.

You didn't say anything abouth 12 months in your first reply.

So what is yout point?

I said it but due to a double post-edit that phrase was lost.

Not that has been clarified i am asking you straight: Do you make valve adjustment ''Every 12 months, regardless of mileage" of ''after 15000 Km" no matter the time?

I do it every 2,5 years or so (7500 Km i change oil plus filter) and i want to know what other Felicia 1.3 owners do.

I can not make it more clear than this.

Well, it didn't sound like genuine question.

Anyway, I did mine roughly every year. But I did about 30000km by that time.

I DO

No every year or every second oil change approx 10.000-14.000 kms

My concern was the ''Every 12 months, regardless of mileage" that Haynes wrote so i asked here to see what other Felicia owners do.

No I think if you have lpg like I do you have to check the valves even sooner. But Haynes uses it as a rule of thumb assuming an average of 15000 km a year I suppose

Haynes manual is about what they THINK they understood from the Skoda Felicia FACTORY manual.

No LPG my friend

My technician says ever 2 change of oils which means 7.500 x 2 = 15.000 Km, many times i have asked him to make it earlier but insists ''no need to".

It depends, if your valves actually need some adjustment at 15000km intervals. Skoda service plan shows that valve clearance was checked at annual checks and every 30000km.
