Exhaust heat sheild issues need refix

Featured Replies

After a recent 4WA I noticed the exhaust sheild was missing some fixings to hold it up. I asked TPS no luck from ETKA. I would suggest this is so common, I have seen plenty heat shields hanging off over the years. This time I would like to use the correct parts, eBay fine to get them back in place. Anyone help?

First picture is what I need second where missing. Thanks in advance.

I too had the wheel alignment done a couple of days ago and found I was missing a couple of these..... Looking at the ones on eBay they look to be single clips but the ones already on the car look to be made up of a couple of items as though one bit goes inside the other..... As you can see in the pic in the original post.

Are the eBay items the correct clips or are the OEM ones actually made up of two seperate bits?

***EDIT***

having checked the part number on my local dealer parts dept website they come up as an old part number that have now been replaced by a single piece clip so looks like the design has been changed since the car was built.

They are 50p each from the dealer so depending on how many you need it looks to be a better deal to get them from eBay for around £2.50ish for ten. I only need one or two but may just get them from eBay and then i’ll have a good few left for any future use.

The original design looks better, that plastic piece will likely prevent the metal washer vibrating / rattling against the heat sheild.

Hopefully you can get a nice tight fit with the new ones.

The plastic part might be part of the heatshield?

No I checked.....

This is where the missing clip is on mine.... No plastic surround so looks like they were part of the original style clip.....  Yours looks the same too.

Done mine today..... One of the benefits of living in a house with a steep drive.... No need for jacks or axle stands in jobs like this. :)

I found I had two missing and the one at the far back had half gone so I pulled out the rest of the rotten clip and managed to save the plastic surround on that one.

So with the help of a 14mm socket and a hammer I've replaced three in total, two without the original plastic surround and one with (the clips I bought fit perfectly within the plastic surround).

Thanks that really helps me now. Even a quick how to guide.

I hope they last this time compared to the factory ones.

2/3 of mine replaced today. Thanks to @WaveyDavey for the tips. Parked it the same half way down the drive.

There are only 3 on the Combi, 2 were needed and I also lost the plastic part so directly to metal.

I doubled up the remaining one just in case. I also doubled the other 2 anyway.

Odd the 05 Octy hatch has the same arrangement layout. None of those moved in 228k.
