Useful Accessories

Featured Replies

Apologies if there's an existing thread on this - I did search "Accessories" but nothing came up.

Any suggestions on useful accessories? I have a 2.0 tdi hatchback, SE Business in Rio Red Metallic. I've bought boot netting and a key fob end tip in chrome (yeah I know). Anything else worth getting? I thought about the little bins for the door pockets but they're nearly 20 quid!

Edit - it's a used car not new, September 2015.

Mud flaps:  really cuts down massively on the amount of crap thrown up onto the rear lower bumper.

Collapsible plastic crate:  I know you have the boot nets, but I found having a wee collapsible crate in the boot was useful for contains a few small items stored in the boot (until my wife broke it).

Rubber mats:  Harder wearing than their fabric cousins and do a better job of containing dirt/debris in the footwell.

+1 on rubber mats, also the rubber boot liner and mud flaps.

I have key covers like this because I'm clumsy and always drop my keys. Stops the plastic fob having scuffs/chunks missing.

Rubber boot mat was on the agenda, thanks for confirming. Will have  a look at rubber floor mats too - are they subtle enough to not look out of place?

If you get OEM ones they look just fine.

£50 for the floor mats and £66 for the boot mat through Skoda UK. Similar through SuperSkoda. Anyone know of anywhere cheaper before I bite the bullet?

The OEM rubber mats are great, I run them in my car over the winter. They’ll be going back in the car in October and the fabric ones coming out.

Thanks all. Plenty to look into.

I bought the oem rubber boot mat from superskoda for 38 euro (difference in price between pre FL and newer?). It was 8euro delivery to uk and I bought a few other bits too. Seems like a good place to go for mostly cheaper oem stuff.

I was advised that I couldn't get mudflaps for my recently-acquire 2015 Scout - but the Mk1 L&K that it replaced had them, and I agree that they were effective.

Rubber mats and boot-liner are also useful. I have the Skoda fitted mats for the passenger area, and a big generic rubber thing in the boot.

My folding receptacle is a Skoda-branded thing which I got from the dealer. It lies under the variable boot-floor and comes out to stop shopping rolling about in the boot. Again, definitely worth having.

I got the rubber boot liner

Octavia III Limousine - rear trunk RUBBER cargo mat, original Skoda Auto,a.s. product

from superskoda for £34.00 + delivery

Fits like a glove and very heavy duty protection from crud.

I've just bought a non-OEM boot liner. It had good reviews though. Also bought some branded seatbelt straps on a whim

I like Rubber,

As well as accessories, are there any tips, tricks or easter eggs that are useful for me to know? I've got a 65 plate 2.0 tdi hatch in SE Business trim. Also has front sensors and chrome window trim and door sills (think they're the only "extras"). If there's anything else worth knowing I'm all ears! I did have an Octavia in the past (2006 1.9 diesel in L&K trim) that had a great trick of losing all power at random on the motorway

Being completely honest, originally I wasn't that excited about the car as I was forced into selling my 3 series Granturismo and buying something for 5 grand less due to unexpected financial reasons - but I absolutely love the car and don't miss the GT at all.

DTUK Tuningbox & Pedalbox

+ 1 for Pedalbox

What kind of impact does a pedal box have on fuel consumption? I do about 20k a year, mostly for work. And how does it affect insurance premiums?

Your insurance cover will not be affected since the engine remains standard.

According to DTUK website.

As for fuel consumption you are effectively flooring the throttle with just a small push on the pedal, so (compared to a "normal driving style") you will use more fuel. But you can choose different settings on the Pedalbox, the "green" option only adds a little bit more input, the "red" option a lot. Or you can even turn it off for days when you feel like driving like an old man ;) . Only had mine for 1 day but I reckon its gonna be a lot of fun.

That’s not something for DTUK to decide/advise IMO.

I've been tempted to get vrs style pedal covers, but I think it would be a bit sad as I don't drive a vrs :D

Bought the bins a bit cheaper here:

So far the interior is kept a lot tidier than the old car was, I bought some Brabantia A bags for when the ones that came with them run out, however as it’s all been parking tickets and kids crisps packets I’ve just emptied them out so far.
