Yes that’s the one. Is it a simple unclip and replace?

Yep, just simply pull the original one out, and replace with this one. One minite job.

Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

Has anyone replaced the chrome piece on the bottom of the flat bottomed steering wheel with a ‘Superb’ one from Superskoda?

would like to get the metal footrest also but am anxious about fitting it myself!

I have the Alu footrest and pedals on order for my DSG from the local skoda dealer, should come in within the next week or 2, will let you know what fitting is like

Thanks for that. 👍

I know this topic has been covered but I can’t seem to find a step by step guide.

I filled mine up for the first time in exactly 3 months and in that time I've done a whole 228 miles.

It's in for the service and MOT tomorrow and looking at last year's records I've done a grand total of 1818 miles since the last one. Jeez

I had my windscreen replaced today. Through Skoda. And they did bad job. The sensor in the middle was not done properly. So it went back...

Also got the original spare wheel with the tools.

None taken 😉

Everyone I know has painted their callipers red.

I just want to be different I suppose.

Now, if I was to change alloys, which ones?🧐

I seem to be doing something wrong using the search function.

I’m leaning towards black rims. But I think I may well be losing the plot 🤪

I have changed my mind four times in the past fortnight regarding replacement wheels.

This is the white goddess 🤣🤣

I've changed my mind again. I am not changing the alloys, honestly am, not, am, not, am, NOT!!!!

I have yet another question.... I had the clockspring replaced under warranty, would the dealers have, for any reason, flashed the ECU when coding the new clockspring? I haven't had the chance to drive the car to notice any remap difference due to lockdown travel restrictions.

Thanks in advance!

They say that they replaced a clock spring? Sounds like a wind up

I take it you don't have an answer to my question, or are you just cuckoo?

Thought i’d jump on the band wagon

Tints and dechrome done a few days ago. I'm wanting to change alloys to 19s, either phoenix or the sportline style (vega?)

That's a lovely colour. Race Blue, I'm guessing?

Looks really good. How much did they charge for the work?

@freelunch yeah it is the race blue, almost went meteor grey that I still like but the blue looks good

@Colin170CR was just over £400, not exactly cheap but 2 days work and worth it for me as I am bit (lot) obsessed with keeping car clean and looking good

400 quid? Cheap compared to my day - MOT, service, DSG service and brake fluid then road tax renewal 780 :crying:

Forgot to include road tax

Gave it its first wash since I got it just over a week ago B)

Can't get the China version retro version l&k badges any more, so I went on a mission to recreate the logo myself and get it produced. Happy enough with how it came back, it's the skoda badge from 1905. Also started polishing the tailpipes

Polishing exhaust tips could turn into a full time job. I did mine during lockdown 1 & even with minimal mileage they have carboned up again pretty quick.

I’d keep the wheels you have if I were you.  They look just fine 👍

Wrapped roof in my garage this afternoon, took me 2 hours to finish the job

Use 3M 2080 metalic black vinyl, together with 3M knifeless tape.

Not a perfect job, some bubbles in the pic.

The 3M metalic black vinyl looks good, but it is not as black as the sunroof and the oringal paint on the car . And it cannot be stretched as a normal black vinyl, the color going to fade if stretch too much, see below left.

I might replace it with normal gloss black vinyl someday in the future, but so far I'm ok with it.

I also wrapped fog light frame too, a bit like the fog light frame addon listed on superskoda.

@eflensin - you've forgot the door handles :)

Don't worry @elfensin they put something in the water in Sheffield and some cope better than others with the side effects. :tongueout:

So.. I don't really dig the rim style of the 18s on mine, and the person asking in another thread recently about 20" Audi rims got me thinking - the primary difficulties with 20s are that they're going to be

a) heavy

b) most likely 9J wide or over, making most of them too wide to be a 'proper' fit for the superb. this extra width is just going to add more unsprung weight again

c) pretty hard ride without a thicker tyre sidewall for shock absorption

but of course that didn't stop me bored browsing on ebay curious about what fitments would work that people may not have thought of.

I struck gold.

 20" rims from a BMW i8

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-I8-wheels-and-tyres/193902185264

So the seller doesn't know the rim width, but from my early research it seems maybe 7J or 7.5J, possibly even staggered 7 at the front and 7.5 at the back. Either way is unusually narrow for a 20", but perfect for what I'm thinking - that narrower width will keep the weight down, probably looking to save every gram on an electric car.

PCD 5x112.. good!

Centre bore 66.5 so some plastic spigot rings won't be a problem

Where I read that they're 7J, the offset is quoted as ET36, so that's pretty much a perfect width/offset combination

So I win the auction and pick them up today.

As I'm collecting them, I'm picking them up, thinking...."these are light... _real_ light..hmm OMG could they be forged?!! it is a high end car..."

so I get them home, turns out the summer setup for the i8 is staggered 7j/7.5j and the winter setup is 7.5J all round (et40) - this is a set of 4x 7.5Js - bingo!

further research... they are indeed forged!!

I paid £280 for an almost immaculate (couple of minor scuffs) forged 20" rims that  will be way lighter than my current 18"s. I'll get appropriate size tyres on them, sell off the wrong size nearly new bridgestone potenzas on them, and do a weight comparison when doing the switchover including rims and tyres. I found the spec for the wheels, and in 7J the rim itself is 10kg, and in 7.5J it's 13.6kg. my skoda 18" "zeniths" are according to skoda https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/en_CZ/alloy-wheel-zenith-18-for-superb-iii/p/3V0071498C+HA7 13.7kg each, and would be carrying more rubber weight too.

I reckon noones looking at i8 wheels on the used market, as its not a fitment that would work for most likely contender bmws, and most of the vag group folk wouldn't have thought of it, so there's my secret trick for today!

check out what the retail on them is...

Looking forward to getting them fitted
