This tempted me once. But as I have good relations with my dealer and the whole team. I thought it wouldn't be fair... I've kept my yellowish torch light.

You’ll be ok, they’re fitted to VW so you won’t have to worry your dealer

Chucked a bucket of water over it. Three hours later this is the result.         Happy with that

You missed your opportunity when yours was in for the work!

Yea indeed, didn’t think about it, mind you they didn’t seem to be well looked after already

This is worthless now. I sold my Mk3 Estate ~18month ago. This torch is not proposed in my Kodiaq Mk1.

I reckon it could be retrofitted. The holder is available on Ali express.

It’s 3 wires. Permanent live, permanent earth and a live which comes on with the boot opening which is probably there for your existing light. I can’t imagine the trim is much different so should be achievable.

I have ones like these. They are brilliant.

Do you recall which ones, I have some reservations about untested Chinese LED lights ) Not because everything isn't made there, but I have the impression that those from Ali and Temu don't go through any quality control process to reduce the cost.

They all come with QC sticker, btw never had any problems with decent leds from ali. Don't think you got better product here in EU only because you pay more money

These ones. Had no issues. The black trim needed a tiny fettle for them to install perfectly but otherwise have been perfect.

I just found this on AliExpress: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EJBESM6

I do too, they have a weird side effect that the electrics don't shut down properly when you switch the ignition off if any of the other interior lights are turned on!

No such issues with mine. All seems to work fine

Changed the oil and oil filter for the 6th time, since buying my Greenline Estate in March 2025.

In that time I've taken it from 152,000 to 190,000 miles.

This change was 2,000 miles earlier than my usual 8,000 mile interval. I wanted to get it done before the cold weather set in for the winter, as I hate doing car mechanicing when it's freezing.

Shameless tarting up of the engine bay…although not as far as cleaning yet.

IMG_0754.jpegOff for an interior detail Friday

Get rid of the dog hair and smell!

And a few other bits I wasn’t happy with on handover

Long list of parts I want

Probably get front windows tinted and a tinted sunstrip first 🤭

Always good to have a fresh interior. It’s nice to have the car looking shiny outside but with kids, it’s such a nice place to sit when pristine.

Doesn’t bother me about the boys getting it dirty.

We do a lot of shows so it’s never clean all the time

But the dog smell and hair is what I hate

For reference, the holder is given by skoda-parts as number 3T0 947 509  with subsequent suffixes but I think the shape always the same. 9B9 is for black, WC4 for beige. Don't seem to be different between hatch and kombi.

As for the cabling, as mentioned must fish somewhere in the wiring to find the relevant signals. Any electrical auto shop should have the male connector to fit the wires.

Someday ....

The wire for the hatch lights is red/blue and just behind the c pillar trim at a connector. A positap or soldered splice would be suitable. Constant power can be taken from anywhere and there is an earth point behind the trim too. Relatively simple diy job

Finally managed to find time to change the oil!

Now running Pakelo Krypton Racing in 0W40 let's see how it manages the winter.

The previous oil was Fuchs Titan GT1 in 5W40 which after 14 months and 8,750km came out pretty darkish, so good it was to replace. Car had little urban use, most hwy and a couple of them long hauls on a spirited manner 🫢

I also put already the winters, it is a wee early but I have time now, surely none later 🫣

Front pads have 1/3 left, so to keep in mind.

Haldex is neglected and to do, but I lost the package with the bolts and seals so might reorder and if I ever find them ... is a consumable after all.

I got a but of a worry as I found oily "wettish" in the area of where the dipstick is, but not sure if it comes from somewhere up, or where can it leak? The bottom engine cover is dry clean, the stuff goes towards the lower arm and seeps along the undercarriage.

As far as I could see, the top of the engine (camshaft cover) seems dry.

Any ideas at what to look at? The dipstick really? (never happened to me in like over twenty years of motoring).

Excellent! Does the entire panel has to come off, or it can be only the c pilar trim?

While not afraid of dismantling, I am a bit overrun with things and tend not to open up works I need to leave half-way, especially on the family wagon ... 🤪☠️

C pillar and top plastic edge of side trim which you would need to remove to install the torch holder anyway. C pillar clips on and trim is 4 Torx screws. It can be a little fiddly to replace but all very doable. The workshop manual describes clearly how to dismantle. I can send you the relevant pages if you don’t have.

I actually have bits and pieces but not the entire thing - one of the few cars I don't have all the tech info, which bothers me ... I can swap with lots of other literature 😁

EDIT: I stand corrected, I have a "Workshop Manual Superb III 2015 ➤

General body repairs, interior

Edition 05.2018"

File D4B80536B1A which is a 163 page PDF, 19.2Mb

I would love Engine/Suspension sections, if available ... 🥰
