Does any one know the technical difference between 2.0 190 TSI and the RS245 2.0 245 TSI .

Is it hard ware as a different turbo and so on they use in this case or do they rely on soft ware tuning ?

If thats the case than 2.0 is the best buy ever, better than 1.8 was, so much cheaper than vrs.

So the 190 definitely has the IS20 turbo? I've seen talk of a possibility it has the IS12 but nothing definitively conclusive.

The 2.0TSI 190 coming in the Octavia is the same engine as the new Seat Alteca/VW Aerton  which appears to map to about 260 max looking at tuners websites so much much less than the 2.0TSI in the VRS.

I read somewhere that the upgrades from standard for the 245 is a different turbo (or maybe just turbine wheel?), Inlet manifold and injectors. As usual I could be quite wrong

In my own experience the 1.8 gave 230bhp at stage 1 whereas my 2.0 gave 302bhp.

I can't find any info on it, but you might find the gearboxes are different too. The 190PS could be paired with the weaker 7 spd box while the VRS has the 6spd.

2.0 TSI 190 HP is different from the 245 version. Its using Miller cycle compression and has over 11 in comp ratio.

Its a more efficient version than the 245.

All MY2019 Octavia's get a 7 speed DSG if you want an auto.

 

Smaller than 2.0 get the DQ200 dry clutch.

 

All 2.0's get the DQ380 wet clutch.

 

No 6 speed DQ250 DSG anymore.

Ah thanks for enlightening me. I wish Skoda would just write what box it comes with on configurator.

I suppose it is their belief it is not of your concern.

<250Nm dry

>=250Nm wet

I think there is some point in this, I investigated the turbos we buy to Scania from Cummins Turbo Tech in Huddersfield.

They use different turbine wheels and ceramic bearings to get higher speed, those bearings are expensive.

Although VAG have 7 different wet clutch gearboxes, 6 of which are in production.

 

DQ250, 6 speed transverse

DQ380, 7 speed transverse

DQ381, 7 speed transverse

DQ500, 7 speed transverse

DQ511, 10 speed transverse (Production suspended)

DL382, 7 speed longitudinal

DL501, 7 speed longitudinal

The Turbo on our Cummins 6.7l QSC is rated at 127,000RPM full chat! Seen a Borg Warner Prototype rated at 140k too but not in production yet. It’s an art all itself!

Seat is always showing the gearbox information, Skoda never does.
