When the turbo went on the Vrs was it completely standard?

Absolutely not touched in anyway.   Box or map. They thoroughly checked for that and it was 24 hours before Skoda authorised it. Even identifying the sound generator was unplugged and wanted to know why.

On topic. If I was to do anything to my 230 PFL estate it would be improved soundproofing, I already added under bonnet soundproofing,  new drivers seat and replace holed carpet on drivers side. But probably have to buy the lot in one piece. Plus discs with hubs painted rather than grey chalk turning to thick rust in 2 hours. Sorry forgot about that one!

Some guys on here resort to rubbing down the hubs, rust treating and then painting (heat resistant stuff) but can't be bothered with that level of care, never chamois/microfibre the car after shampoo bucket wash just let the rain clean it. It's Black Magic nothing Harry Potter about this colour always looks dirty.

I did mine rather hurriedly with silver smooth hammerite during the first wheel rotation.  Quick rub down and paint, over a year later no rust has come through the hammerite and it was fairly heavy before. Wish I had done them dark grey like the Audi's rather than the original silver. The original silver came off the first time it went through the local car wash.

Yeah but needs must. The car's filthy and I've not got time to clean it myself at the moment. Ideally I'd clean it myself with the two bucket method etc. but chances are on the weekend I won't be able to get the parking spot outside my house either. My car's red so at least the swirl marks won't be so obvious than it would be on black. :)

I'm getting interested in adding a reverse camera like that there Sasha has, for the money it's quite a neat/cheap addition. I've  been out tonight with the OBD dongle and turned on the spare rear fog light, it seems daft it having a bulb fitted, but not working, especially after the fog we've been gerrin up ere in the Peak District.

I've recently just gone over 18,000 miles, and the oil service is due in about another 500 miles and the inspection service due around another 1,500 miles or there after, so somewhere in between, probably at about 19,000 miles it'll be going in for its first service, a full long life service. Skoda dealer has quoted me £278 all in, which I didn't think was too bad, but my local independent will be getting a call for a price on Monday.

Oh and a good wash and polish would be good before the snow comes, but I'm not holding out on that one happening in the coming weeks. Not enough hours in the week.

Just had my first Long Life service at the local Skoda dealer at 18,487 miles but pay £10.52 per month x 30 payments for 2 services and first MOT. This is not a Skoda UK deal but in-house so works out decent value and easy to budget for via Direct Debit.

My planned mods are going to be wheel orientated. At a minimum, I'm hoping to get a set of wheel spacers for the 18's. I was aiming to try and get the suspension side of things complete, but I very much doubt funds will allow for it

Ultimately I plan to wear out the tyres on the 18's (which fingers crossed will be the end of this year) and then I'll throw winter style tyres on.

If I've done my measurements correctly, the Neuspeed 19's I've my eye on as my summer wheels, they'll then have the same equivalent offset as the 18's with the spacers.

Thanks !

Will have a look !

Ceramic polish is also on my list, but i don't know how much of a hole that will burn into my wallet !

Mine is away this weekend having a painwork enhancement detail, then a three layer 5 year ceramic coating applied. Not cheap but will make car easier to keep clean and protected. And yes

It has burned a hole in my wallet.

How much did that set you back? I've my eye on it, but I had a quote of nearly a grand. I appreciate the Gtechniq stuff is a quality product and an estate has a large surface area, but a grand....... on your bike.

Not a grand but £585. Had the car since Wednesday, should be ready by Monday     Yes the Gtechniq is supposed to be good. Time will tell.

First job of 2019 done, upgraded LED lights in the boot, from AliExpress. Make a huge difference. Although I could do with fitting one on the tailgate too so when the boot is stuffed full I can still see

LED puddle lights arrived too.

Ordered the Obdeleven, so will have a play when it arrives. In the meantime keep reading these posts for ideas.

After a horrendous drive back home over the top of the Peak District in the snow on Friday night, enough was enough, my front tyres were down to about 3mm of tread and I was struggling to get traction on the hills. So Saturday I went off to Costco and had a pair of Michelin Cross Climate+ fitted. Even after pleading to get them to fit them to the front, they wouldn't. Company policy etc, so on the rear they went. When I got back home, I switched them front to back and vice versa. Then I noticed that I had a £25 discount as they have a promotion on. So 2 off 225/45 R17 fitted, all balanced for just over £157 well chuffed to say the least :)

Then I had my first service done Monday, milage was 18882 and despite the dealer wanting £278 for the privilege, my local independent garage (Audi trained technician) did it as per the manufacturer's recommendations for just £148.44 and added the details to the Erwin system for me. Plus they have indicated that there is a rumble/rattle in the engine bay. So it's booked in with the dealer.

Expensive weekend but now it's done, I'm just waiting for payday again :dull: maybe then I can look to order a reverse camera to add that.

What tyres are now on the rear? Are they summer tyres?

Yes, there the factory fitted Dunlop sport max tyres, even after 19,000 miles there is still a good 5mm of tread left on them. Not an ideal combination, I know, but I needed better grip up front for the colder weather.

The fitter at Costco said that the cross climate+ tyres can last up to 30,000 miles, I took that with a pinch of salt. Only time will tell.

24 months into ownership and starting to look at a few more fiddly interior mods, as well as few external things for refinement:

- (Already done) Forge Motorsport 'Big Gear Knob' replacement

- Trip to Racingline to shore up the older Shark Stage 1.5 map on their dyno

- ALWAYS on lookout for good 19" 8.5J five- or six-spoke, lighter black / gunmetal grey alloys to replace my current 19" Xtremes

- +1 on (upgraded) discs with black hubs. Maybe Racingline big brake kit if I'm feeling flush (so... never).

- Interior LEDs, puddle light LEDs, OBDeleven faffery

- Not modding but 24,000 mile service + 1st MOT

- Black front lip cover (below intercooler)

SWMBO likes holding my big (Vrs) knob. The Extremes went on mine due to not liking the design, not liking the PZero's wrapped around them and corner weight (including tyre) of 22.5kg. Lighter is always better said Colin Chapman.:notme:

Bigger is always better ;) - tbf the FM knob (teehee!) is lower than standard, so it sits nicer IMHO.

Yeah - I know they're heavy ******s the Xtremes. I've got 235/35 R19s all round now - but with the Eibach Pro-Kit I want to get a very slightly better offset to fill them out without the faff that spacers inevitably bring.

Good choice fitting the 235 tyre, makes a massive difference but saving mine for the drier (hopefully), warmer weather, while I pound the filthy motorway with my aftermarket 18" alloys and skinny 225/40 tyres.B)

This is as good a proof as any modding a car you don't own just really isn't a good idea let alone pretending you can plead ignorance for even a warranty claim if they find something. I know there are plenty of ostrich types here on Briskoda.. but as usual each to their own, your car (or lease) your choice! :) LOL

Mods for mine NONE.. only change I probably will and can make ditch the bloody awful S001 bridgestones for F1 Ass3s. Mine is run in based on what Skoda recommend in the manual (LOL) have around 1100 miles on it now covered that in 2.5months

F1 AS3 are great, though depending on how soon you need, AS5 (they skipped 4) is due around March time I believe.

I think it will be some time before you wear out the Bridgestones unless you take up drifting or track days to help with their replacement (4,400 mile per annum for you at present).:notme:
