This month in particular has seen a great response from forum members to our flexible pricing strategy. It's so successful that we're signing up around 38% of all quotes offered - that's better than one in every 3 quotes (almost 4 in 10).

I also just wanted to remind you that there are only a couple more weeks left until we close our Prize Draw for an iPad Mini. All you need to do to enter is ask us to quote for your car insurance before 31st May.

Please give us a try if your insurance is due soon - others are saving £££s and the chance to WIN an iPad Mini. But that's not all we have to offer...

If there were 4 comments that best sum up the benefits of our service, it's these, received in recent weeks:

"Mine's all sorted signed and sealed with CK. Very quick and easy and most importantly, an efficient/professional service. Compared to the original renewal from Churchill, CK were over £300 cheaper. Compared to the cheapest quote from the usual sites, CK were around £50-£100 cheaper." Akash - VWAudi Forum

"Many thanks for all your help - it makes the whole process much less of a chore dealing with a friendly, helpful & professional human being rather than a faceless website! Also I appreciate the fact that Chris Knott advertise a 'proper' number so that it doesn't cost a fortune calling from a mobile. I will definitely be recommending Chris Knott to anyone who asks." D Birtles, Recommended by a friend

"Chris Knott have just given me an absolute steal of a price. I can't tell you or you'd not take this post seriously! I only left them as they had a funny uncompetitive year but they are back and I am very happy to be with them instead of some random internet only cowboys." ofnpanad, AlfaOwner.com

"Well, I've just taken out my S-Max insurance with Chris Knott, and I have to say that Rebecca did a fabulous job of finding me a great quote, recognised my lack of computer skills and talked me through everything. How nice it is to talk with someone who is professional and patient. For the first time, speaking with insurance companies today, I actually felt that I was being valued as a customer. Any problems or concerns and I only have to call back, and chances are I can speak to the same person again. Well done Chris Knott Insurance for restoring my faith in customer service." Fezzer, SMax Owners Club

You should call Chris Knott Insurance for a car quote and to benefit from a better level of service. Find out how much you could save and, if calling before 31st May, get free entry into our iPad Mini draw. Hurry - not long left for the draw!!

We'll be running another great competition via our Facebook page soon - so please LIKE the Chris Knott Facebook page. In addition, there'll be a draw for a year's FREE UK Breakdown Cover once we reach 500 LIKES. Don't miss out!

  • Thanks Lee. We'll be in touch shortly. Friday afternoons are busy but we'll do all we can to deal with your quote request quickly.

When's the earliest you can quote for a new policy? My current insurance runs out on the 26th June

Same question here - 18th June for me.

Usually within 30 days of your renewal but it really is best if you wait until you have your renewal invitation through from your existing provider and then call us.

Hi,

With your quotes can I get the "drive any car third party" on my policy, apologies for the wording.

Thanks

I've found this company extremely helpful this week and almost a pleasure to deal with.

Attentive, and rang me back as was promised.

They'll be getting another call off me in 2 months time when re-newal is due, to hopefully prevent me having to endure the annual stressful 'best quotes merry go 'round 'phone calls malarky'  :wall:

It'll depend which insurer you end up with but if that's a requirement please make sure you tell us when you call.

Oh, and if you're in the motor trade we wouldn't be able to offer it I'm afraid.

Good question that.

Seems to be restricted to the over 25's now unfortunately, as I'd really like my youngest to have that ability on his policy...as it actually was when he was 17  for one year, giving him the opportunity to drive my Fabia vRS...carefully, which he did ! :o

He has a class 1 PCV licence at the young age of 21 now, allowing him to drive a double decker bus all over the county, full of humans that he is ultimately responsible for, yet he's not allowed to drive his mothers 3 pot 1 litre Vauxhall Agila. Staggering stuff. :wall:

Do ANY insurance companies allow under 25's to drive any car on their own policy on a TPF&T basis, or is this generally a blanket ruling and ban now?

Tried getting a quote when I had my Honda s2000 and they said as been advised before they don't cover m21 which is rather shamefull oh well thumbs down for the company from me

Maybe you could try us again - for some time now we've been able to quote for most of the postcodes that were previously excluded. There may be overnight parking requirements such as 'must be parked on driveway or garaged' for some of the postcode areas but things have opened up. Please give us a call.

Not that we're aware of but there maybe some out there.

Why do insurance companies never look at insurance requirements on a more customized basis to suit their customers needs.

They all seem so pig headed and simply bang the 'one rule for all' drum.

Does my head in. :wall:

If he can be held responsible with the lives of anything between 1 and 75 passengers, why can't he be allowed to drive a simple car on his own?

I'd personally trust my son on his own with a Bugatti Veyron.

He's driven a Audi R8 on a track with no incidents

The DOC (Driving other cars) extension was only ever intended to provide basic third party protection for emergencies, not a way of providing cover for anyone to drive anything on a regular basis.

Insurance premiums are based on risk statistics so they are not person-specific but demographic-specific i.e. stats show that costs of claims for young drivers are greater than costs of claims for older drivers, for example. Without a proven driving history (because they haven't been driving long) young drivers are lumped together.

Well he's got his own car that he drives on a daily basis, so why would he or anyone else with their own car be wanting to drive someone else's regularly?

All doesn't make sense to me, but hey, I'm not an insurance provider.

...and this is what's wrong imo.

ALL tarred with the same brush.

One rule applies to all, take it or leave it,  and customization is totally utterly out of the question  regardless of missing an opportunity to make some extra income p'raps?

Restrictions could apply regarding bhp or engine size perhaps?

Flamin' nuts.

He could therefore have a Bugatti Veyron (wishes) insured by himself, but wouldn't be allowed to drive his mothers 3 pot 1 liter Agila!?

I guess a young driver could buy and insure a low powered car with a DOC extension. His parents then buy and insure a more powerful car. The young driver uses it regularly under his own DOC extension and the car's insurer knows nothing about it.

My young cub has done everything he can to prove he's responsible.

Clean licence, no accidents, Pass Plus, IAM and PCV class 1 licence.

Not an awful lot more he could do to prove he's totally responsible in all honesty is there?

Well in fairness, anyone can lie about anything if they want to take that very high risk.

Most don't play Russian Roulette fortunately.

But without the proven experience being there for a young driver how else could it be personalised? How would you set a rate for someone you didn't know if it was your money that would have to bail them out?

Dunno.

I'm not privy to all the info and statistics of the industry, but in my case, my son has got nearly 5 years of proof now.

I'll ask the question again in 2 months time anyway to see if you can find a provider that actually does DOC anymore.

  • Sponsor

We do have providers that still offer DOC but I don't think you'll find any for under 25s.
