New VRS 245. OBDeleven not activating high beam assist

Recommended Posts

Hi. I have just taken delivery of a new VRS and on trying to activate high beam assist I got a 'not supported' message when using the app. I had no problem with the outgoing VRS. Has anyone had the same problem and I'd do how did they sort it out? Car definitely has the required modules; lane assist and dynamic headlight control

This is what I used to code on my VRS245 (18')

Procedure:

  • Ensure light switch is off
  • Conduct a soft reset when accepting each change
  • Reset Light menu to factory settings after coding to display new menu option

Controller 09 - Central Electrics
Security Access - 16: 31347

Adaptations  - 10
- Search for Fernlicht to narrow down the options
- Menusteuerung Fernlichtassistent Werkeinstellung: Set to PRESENT
- Menusteuerung Fernlichtassistent: Set to PRESENT
- Erwiterte Fernlichtsteuerung: Set to AFS: FLA: FERNLICHT UEBER AFS
Menu option for "Light Assist" should be available in the Lights section of the Car settings menu (may require a factory reset of Light menu).

If you want HBA to remain active, with light switch in Auto, then code the following
- Fernlichtassistent Reset: Set to NOT ACTIVE

Controller A5 - Front Sensor
Coding (using experimental coding values)

-Byte 19, Bit 0-3 (00 FLA_Additional_High_Beam,no_Additional_High_Beam

-Byte 19, Bit 4-7 (20 FLA_Headinglight_Type,LED)
-Byte 21, Bit 5-7 (20 AFS_coding_Light_Assist,High_Beam_Assist)

Controller 4B - Multifunction Module
Coding (using experimental coding values)
-Byte 11, Bit 6 (High Beam Assistance,Enabled)

You may get an error pop up regarding Headlight Range Control. To clear this, go to Controller 4B, Basic Settings.
-Basic Headlamp setting -> Go
-Acknowledge basic setting -> Go

thanks for this, what do you mean by a soft reset between each step? use the reset on the app? or switch the ignition off?

i dont have 'factory reset' in my lights menu, only the whole csr menu?

Just reading this.

Are you guys saying that HBA is a  hidden freebie??

Or did u need to spec it from the factory?

you should be able to activate that and TSR if you have the high spec camera (which a think all UK cars have, for lane assist, so if'youove got lane assist, you SHOULD be able to turn it on with OBDeleven or VCDS, but I'm having issues!

I think i do as i have an 18 plate 245 .... ill start looking into this OBDeleven thing a little bit!

I'll let you know if i get it working, It seems most of the forum users have!

I'd argue its not hidden freebies though. Its VAG holding things back on purpose unless we pay huge sums of money, like blackmail! The car can do it, they just disable it in software unless we pay them!

Don't they still charge £200+ for cruise control on a £45,000 car?:wall:

All UK spec vRS's maybe, but not all UK spec Octavias

Just been on the Porsche configurator with the same engine as my Octavia and to the same spec ended up costing £54,137 compared to mine at £28,100. The Porsche is obviously heavier, slower and uses more fuel oh and road tax of £450 per year for the first 5 years.
