@GT0161

You had best talk face to face or over the phone with the Dealership Groups Master Technician, & get everything in writing,

you seem to be communicating with a idiot no better than 'Gordon is a moron' that @Sittingbull & myself have dealt with.  A sandwich short of a picnic.

http://skoda.co.uk/about-us/contact-us   Best send in a message.

& Get SKODA UK CUSTOMER SERVICES on TUESDAY, phone and email, and to the Dealership.

Tell them all the story in writing.  Forward the Service Managers massage.

Have a Skoda Communications Manager contact this Dealerships Dealer Principal.

The Dealership needs to get you a courtesy car as a Goodwill Gesture seeing as an Employee could easily kill you.

Neither did he know what he meant i suspect.

He was just told something then told you.

Basically the car is always on Basic Settings, the Engine ECU, the DSG ECU.

If not on Basic Settings the ECU's will have put the car in 'Limp Mode', Get you home mode.  That is very 'Basic'..

They can 'Reset' the DSG.   They should, maybe '34F7' was not correctly done.

I would have thought that 'reset' might have been done when the Tech was diagnosing any DSG issues and then driving it.

If they did ever plug in and check.

Factory setting of other stuff can be done on the Maxidot, doubt he meant that.

DON'T BUY THAT WARRANTY NOW.

A member here was sold one, then had Oil issues and the Warranty Claim was rejected because he had asked about Oil Consumption and they said a 'Known issue'.

They rejected the claim and never repaid the 'Warranty' cost  (insurance policy'.)

Plus the 'limit of the claim' will not be enough.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

a WARNING to any Warranty buyers.  Skoda / VW will bend you over and make you assume the position and use no lubrication.

Hi Danny,

Buying the warranty at this moment in time is not recommended, not only for the reason as outlined by Offski but because you may end up returning the car to the selling car dealer as it could be deemed unfit for purpose given both the engine and gearbox are goosed and may well have been known to be goosed at the point of sale. If your engine and gearbox were to be replaced and all running spick and span as it should be, then that could be a different matter, with the cautionary note that many owners have found the all components warranty to be ineffective when called upon.

As for your ongoing battle.

I think I read earlier in the thread that you have outstanding finance on the car, maybe 15 months or so. Until that finance is paid, the car legally belongs to the finance company in question. It is worth your while contacting them to advise them that the car they supplied the finance for is currently in the processes of having oil consumption tests done and has a busted gearbox. The oil consumption issue appears to have existed at the point of sale, so there may be a case for the Finance company to consider their options. Perhaps they can pressurise the seller to take the car back and return money due to you or provide a replacement.

As for the Skoda dealership, offski is correct. The advice being given from the Service department is lacking and potentially dangerous. What they have offered is not a solution. Offski is correct to assert that initial contact with Skoda UK needs to be made, with a view to Skoda UK applying pressure to the local dealership to get their act together and address the problems on your vehicle seriously. If you can win them round by fair means or foul, they might bring goodwill into play, goodwill being anything from financial assistance in meeting any bill to having the car ultimately replaced as has happened with other owners unfortunate enough to have bought a pig in a poke.

504 km driven,  and 257 grams of oil used.

1 litre being 857 grams.

so getting on for 1/3 of a litre in just over 1/2 of 1,000 km.

That is not within tolerance.

That calculation if it was 1,008 km and 514 grams of oil would be a big fail. more than 0.5 litres in 1,000 km.

Skoda know that 0.3 litres in 1,000 km was too much and replaced engines using that much.

@Skoffski so im well within my rights to ask for a new engine which he said he may be able to help with due to because its only on 40kmiles he said due to age of the car no goodwill usually gets offered but the miles are so low he will try his best.....

@Skoffski i cant beleive they think i topped it up so confused

Here is a faulty test where the technician has the litre of oil as 1,000 grams.  This was nonsense as well.

Here it says 78 grams oil used in 300 km.

This member got a new engine.  But then Skoda had to be told the test was crap, and nonsense.

@Skoffski

as for the dsg its not great, better but not great,

Still slips in 2nd n 4th a bit (needs a clutch for sure)

No idea why you are flooring it like that when clearly there is an issue with the DSG.

You are asking for trouble.

You need to talk to a Gearbox Specialist that deals with DQ200 DSG's, All the gear and more than an idea or an instruction manual.

@Skoffski lol i did it for evidential purposes and only the once since it started happening. That video is before basic settings applied i have not booted like that yet and probably wont.

Yeah i have had a quote of £1000+vat for a clutch, but not sure if the mecatronics unit is knackered

if i receive a new engine i will probably updgrade the gearbox anyway and keep the car.

UPDATE!

Looks like its knackered i have a estimate for squirters to be changed and breathers etc

just under £700

and if that fails its the 2nd option of a new engine i have attatched a covering letter with the prices

hopefully the finance company will do something to rectify this i cant afford any of them estimates!

I have further asked if any goodwill is offered, in case the finance company refuse my claim.

I cannot see any goodwill as the car is a 2011 but with only 40k miles i ahould of thought they would offer goodwill as it left the factory faulty!

@Roottootemblowinootsoot engine is ok no problems. Supercharger clutch in water pump needs replacing.

car is currently in a garage they messed up my steering. I changed the steering pump still a problem. This all stems from having my cutch replaced.
I think they have damaged the rack. A bolt was missing out of the box! My mechanic found it sandwiched between the sub frame and steering rack and the washer on the bolt had squashed under pressure so they have for sure damaged it. I dropped it off Monday I have a post on here regarding stiff steering.

my mechanic diagnosed.
Damaged rack or air lock in the lines or possibly damaged lines.

That comes as the one part, The magnetic clutch is built into the water pump. Retails at £62 from amazon......Doubt your mechanic will get it cheaper than that, £15 for the 2 ribbed aux belts.

Mental how times change.

Clutch packs that used to be £800 are now £380, You an get a clutch done for less than a grand now at places and  the mechatronics can now be fixed for as little as £40 if your willing to do it yourself, Parts are ready available to fix all parts of the mech unit now when a few years ago it was a specialist job that would cost you your mortgage.

So after clutch replacement my steering has been knackered very stiff

so I replaced the steering pump problem still there.

strange thing is in reverse it’s totally fine no feedback Or resistance at all

I have purchased a new rack and lines hoping this will remedy it.

but the weird thing is why is it ok in reverse???

it feels like air lock and you can hear a pressure noise like escaping gas when you try and turn more once fully locked to the left or right.

could it be fine in reverse because something maybe on backwards 😂

I’m really at the end now the garage who caused the problem have tried there best to fix but have no idea what the problem is could the sub frame be bent??
wheb they have prised the box out? As they only lowered the sub frame instead of removing it I.e how the workshop manual states.

if anybody is a steering guru near Manchester and would like to try and help me diagnose the problem...

has anybody ever heard of this strange problem. A very master tech who replaced my pump said he has no idea possibly air lock or even damaged the rack inside as when they lowered the sub frame it’s popped out of the rack and just popped back in causing damage?

there was also a bolt that was missing out of the gearbox. My mechanic found it sandwiched between the steering rack and sub frame but there is no obvious signs of damage but the washer on the Bolt was bent  where it had been squashed between.

any help is much appreciated
thank you in advance

Thanks mate iv got a used rack and lines with sub frame so going to swap the lot and see if it fixes the problem

I hope anyway I just wonder if it could be gearbox related at all speed sensors etc just cannot understand it as there’s no fault codes present 😫

The car is paid for now so soon as I can fix it I can get rid of it I would like to scrap it to be honest 😂 I would hate to pass this lemon onto somebody else...

currently on 47,100 miles

new clutch at 46k

burns 1ltr of oil every 900miles
