My Superb 220 has been remapped and now it’s faster!

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd mention that I had this done to my car last week, and it's totally transformed the car. It still drives very nicely, quietly and smoothly for those chilled out journeys but now when you floor it, the power is unbelievable. For the first few days it was actually hilarious - it felt like the car should not go that fast lol...

Now that I've got used to it, I'm so impressed and would recommend it to anybody. My car is now a total sleeper and the guys who did it say when the weather warms up and it's dry, I'll easily get from 0-60 in around 4.5 seconds (I actually think it'll be more like 5.5).

I had it done at ADS in Preston, Lancashire. Very professional and knowledgeable. If you look at their facebook page "ADS Automotive" you will see a picture of my car from when they had it in (it was on Friday 25th).

When the bank balance allows I'll be going back for a DSG Stage 1 upgrade, to match the gearing properly, and maybe later I will upgrade to the Revo intake system, but for now I'm really happy with the extra power - it's supersonic.

There you go. It won't stop the 'discussion' though.

  • The difference between (XDS-traction control) and the VAQ electronic diff was demonstrated around the Nurburgring where 2 identical Golf Gti's driven by the same driver were separated by 8 seconds ove

  • Whoa, we've all had a bit too much 0-60 quoting for today, so let's just all sit down, reflect  and have the nice cup of shut the f**k up

I've got a pre-loved Revo Air intake

Taken off in favour of a Raceline R600 air intake system

That's cool, but the Revo air intake systems they sell now seem to be a whole air box replacement:

Yeah I see that now, had to re-read their power increase claims twice 41whp FMS !!!

Then I saw it was tested on a STAGE 4 tuned car FFS just goes to show, you've gotta read the small print

Are you saying a Stage 1 map adds 100bhp?

0-60 in 4.5 in  a heavy FWD car :D i can't wait to see the data logs on this one considering on the cars ive logged for a fwd car to do that it weight 1060kg, made just over 400whp and was on A052's

I was under the impression that standard tyres on a fwd would struggle to get below 6.0?

Nah its doable but you need very good tyres and a very clever traction control system usually done via a syvecs.

im pretty sure it was this log it did 0-60 in 4.53 via a gps vbox

I'd bet my car on this never getting close to 4.5

@drewellis im guessing data logs aren't forth coming?

I think a 280 with a stage one, AWD and some decent tyres would do 4.5 secs, with the launch control.  A stage one, 220 with FWD? ...I would guess at high 5's...possibly mid 5's in 'optimal' conditions ???

Sorry not been on in a while. Yes, stage 1 has added 100bhp. Stage 2 requires unrestricted exhaust and increases another 80bhp (waste of time imo).

As I said, and as the Revo website states, they claim 4.5 seconds, but I disagree and have done my best to time it - 5.5 is more realistic.

Data logs are are not forthcoming because I don’t have any.

They are still a hard tread wear if you had some Avon ZZR’s then we’d be talking.

Two 245 Octavia's have been mapped at stage 1 by AmD in Essex now rated at 302 and 305bhp (verified on a rolling road). Does the 220 Superb have our fancy VAQ electronic diff to put the power down. I have 8.5J alloys with PS4S Michelin tyres (235/35R19) . If you haven't had your car on a reliable rolling road then you have no idea what it is producing. I have a 3" inch sports downpipe, full stainless Milltek 3" twin exhaust system, Airtec uprated intercooler, Airtec foam cone air filter and stage 2 remap. The extra £3,000 spent gained me 34bhp which is way off your claim for another 80bhp (taking your total to 400bhp). A stage 2 Superb 280 may approach this figure but has the Golf R bigger turbo. My Octavia is much lighter than your heavy Superb and could probably manage 0-60mph in 5.5seconds in ideal conditions and 0-100mph in 11.5seconds.

Most cars have that diff, even my little 1.6 103bhp fabia and its bloody awful hence its getting turned off and a custom made wavetrac fitted:D

The Octavia Vrs 220 petrol didn't have it fitted for example.:giggle:

it probably will do, for the mk2 fabia only the vRS was advertised as having it but on VCDS i found the settings for it being active on mine and explained the unusual brake wear and also the fact on track one side was always hotter than the other.

I think most of the cars have what they call a fancy diff that you can adjust in vcds.  In reality they use the braking and traction systems to do the work.  Then there is the actual fancy diff that came in car like pre-FL 220, FL 230 and 245* that is a mechanical part with computer controlled wizardry.

*I may have got those models wrong but its something along those lines.

@AMD87

That would be XDS you found activated then on your Mk2 Fabia and not XDS+ & not VAQ.

Even then there’s still not a hope in hell of a stage 1 fwd superb getting anywhere near 4.5 to 60

But my 2.0 tdi 150 does 3.8 after a clean

@AMD87  i never commented on 0-62 or the likes, just on what you said about e-diffs, or VAQ.

They’re pretty damn good for everyday driving and a bit of fun. I do a lot of miles so I can’t use soft tyres. Most of the new Porsches come with 4S
