  • Yes... Got here late Monday night and collected a very base model Seat Ibiza in white. It's clearly had a few bumps and repairs but drives very well with about 44k km on it and is fine for the narr

  • Part two. Having rejected the Haval we waited for 1/4 hour and were presented with a Toyota Corolla Cross, these are probably, along with the Toyota's mentioned earlier by Gaz, one of the most common

TBH on the photo you can only see a few on the bonnet and the sides look OK but in person it looks like it's had a close encounter with a hawthorn hedge or similar ( IE it's been trough one recently)... the sides have full length scratches and the roof and rear spoiler are losing Thier lacquer.

Buts it's done the job and is tidy enough inside (or was until we hit the beach... 😀)

Toyota Landcruiser? 😄

Hyundai i30?

😁

Edit: But on a slightly more serious note, one of the Toyota Yaris sized crossovers - Starlet Cross or Urban Cruiser (just looked up its name).

You need to supply more base info -

Hire company and size class of vehicle booked.

The hire company we use is called Holiday Autos and from there we chose one from Europcar, car booked was 5 seat SUV medium size type.

The Landcruiser can be seen everywhere in South Africa, quite often in 'sand' colour, and we did get a ride in one while being transported around a wine estate.

As the saying goes: "If you want to go into the bush take a Land Rover. If you want to get out of the bush, take a Land Cruiser".

There's actually two parts to the hire car story on this particular holiday, I would never have guessed the first hire car, I'll cover the second part later on, but for now here's a side picture of the first one we were given. Any suggestions from this picture as to what it could be?

That's exactly what it was. Never seen one before but quite a few in South Africa.

You don't leave anything on view in South Africa due to smash & grab so a careful 10 minutes was spent fitting everything in the boot, we jumped in, started the car and waited for the usual warning lights to go out, which they never did!. Had a word with the guy on the desk who said it will be fine and don't worry about it but I wasn't having any of that so rejected the car, you don't want to breakdown especially in South Africa.

Sound like Rex's rent a wreck! 🤣

OK - not an overseas hire but one in the UK for work. Doing some site visits down a lot of country lanes, involving parking on verges etc. on a project where we have been told not to use our own cars - so asked for a manual compact SUV...

What did I get...???

Qashqai/ Mokka/ Grandland?

Merc G-wagon? 😁

Toyota Aygo X (and no, the X is not a kiss..........)

Neighbours parents have had a Jogger for a year or two now. Not bad tbh. Acres of space in the boot because they went for just one row of year seats.

I'm not a fan of the drab olive green it's in though. Looks more like ex army than polite pensioner D

Utter pile of garbage... I had one as a courtesy car last year.

More cramped than you'd expect, slower than you'd expect, frighteningly light steering, and all for ticket price equal to my (used) vRS.

The Sandero? I’ve not been inside one, but I can’t imagine it being much alright…

The Arona! Even as just four wheels and some seats, I can't imagine why you'd buy one.
