ECU issue

Featured Replies

Good afternoon!

I am new to the forum. I am currently having an issue with my ECU on my 2006, 1,2 Skoda Fabia. The ECU needs to be replaced, and the part number is 03E906033 AD, However, the AD variant on the Part number is NOWHERE to be found. My question is, can I get another ECU for another 1.2, same part number, without the AD variant and install it? Thank you in advance, this issue is driving me real crazy.

Hi.

What is the problem with the car, and why do you think the ECU is to blame?

@ameldeleon - Another one who's almost certain you do not actually need a new ECU.

So here is the deal. I have a 1.2 2006 skoda Fabia. About 2 or 3 months ago my car started to desactivate a piston while i have my AC off (Not on, only wirh AC off) and started wobbling and shaking. I have replaced spark prlugs, coils, even Throttler  When I took it to my local shop, they did a compression test and cylinder 3 had a misfire, however, this misfire ONLY happens if I turn the AC off and let the engine idle.

So, as the car showed compression issues on that piston, they did an engine rebuild, and now that is 190k km they advised me to replace distribution kit and some other maintenance due to mileage.

One week after, they gave me my car back and the car still has the problem. I took it back and they told me that they put another ECU on it and it runs fine and no problem shows up.

I don't believe a word of it, low compression is common on these engines due to burnt valves, if they had sent the head away for a rebuild the issue would have gone.

The reason the engine ticks over with AC on is that the ECU sets a faster idle

Take the car for another compression test at a different garage and get the cylinder readings written down in their report.

Tell us the outcome.

+ 1 for "needs a new ECU!" = garage talking *******s

The reference to replacing distribution kit makes me think its a French garagiste (kit de distribution = cam belt kit),  there is no way in hell that they will have tried another ECU, removing the old one is probably beyond their competence and it would not start with another one anyway because of the immobiliser.

Talking *******s they will have mastered the art of however :D

As above. Also, if (when?) the dry compression test shows low on 3, they should then do a follow up wet test to confirm whether the problem is valves or piston rings.

Update: Compression seems fine in all three pistons. However. Now the car is stalling and the revs jump or stay too low every now and then. The issue shows up every time I leave the engine Idle for more than 5 minutes, no matter if the AC is on or off.
