Superb iV (hybrid)

Does anyone know why are they pairing "old" 1.4 TSI with electric motor instead of now standard 1.5 TSI?

I heard rumours it's the old unit from the passat GTE rather than an all new unit .

Anyone know if the iV is AWD?

I just can’t help think that the rumoured £40k price tag is far too expensive.

Sadly no, asked the dealer today.

That’s a shame, figured it might have.

maybe for the top model- but as i understand you can add the PHEV pack to any trim level of car unlike VW where its only on the GTE.

I was just reading about this on Simpson’s SKODA last night, and they do suggest it will be available for everything except S trim. Will be interested to see the eventual pricing.

I received this message from my dealer this morning,

"I said I would keep you informed of progress regarding the introduction of hybrid models into the Skoda range and am pleased to say that the Superb will be coming as a hybrid towards the end of this year. Let me know if you are still interested and I will provide you with further details as and when the factory release information."

By coincidence I am going for a look and test drive of the new Peugeot 508SW this afternoon, their hybrid is due in September.

Must say I like the look of the Peugeot, especially the interior and they do it in red leather. 🙂

will be sold out in days, then a factory lead time of over 1 year...just like the GTE/Merc etc

That's the first I've heard of a Hybrid.

I guess I'm a bit old-school, when I was looking for my Superb the idea of a 1.5 or even 1.4 engine in such a big car was a bit jarring. To be honest I turned down a good deal on a Leon ST FR Sport because it was 'only' a 1.5TSI.

I feel a bit more comfortable with a Hybrid. I'm at least 3 years from swapping my 190 Tdi so plenty of time for supply to catch up and to get some real world feedback.

Went for the test drive and look, to be honest if they were offering a hybrid 508sw right now I would have ordered one there end then!

Makes the Superb look the five year old design that it is even with the facelift I doubt the Skoda wIll come anywhere near as modern looking as the Peugeot, the interior is really impressive.

Had to google the Peugeot 508sw since we are unlikely to get it in Australia and I must say that from the front aspect reminds of 'Bruce' the vegetarian white pointer shark from the Finding Nemo cartoon film.

The red interior must have been inspired by a French bordello.

I would never consider the 508sw as an alternative to the superb, they don't seem to play in the same league when it comes to leg room and luggage capacity. But ofcourse it depends on what you're looking for.
