Thanks for the tip, did manually change byte 21 value from ED to 6D but as you can see below still reports issues with the wiper motor.

As for the Webasto, it is fully functional, I did switched it on a few minutes before entering the car and ran the basic settings 011 steps.

But the can still reports errors.

As for the OPS display, still not there. Drove a little bit the car, used the assisted parking functionality, but still no display. Depending on the Columbus 

selected functionality (radio or map), display stays on the selected functionality.

I've seen that wiper fault on new cars, is it not just coincidental and you actually have a fault with J400? The limit switch comes up on brand new Rapids and the fix is to replace the motor?

Mind you on those, to get them to work, you need to disconnect J519 with the battery still connected to get them to work again, sounds like your motor is working, just showing a switch fault which is within the motor. Also happens if the wiper frame bushes are starting to seize or iced up wiper blades.

Your battery voltage is too low looking at the log, Don't try making ecu code adjustments with voltage that low, should have a bench power supply.

I would charge your battery for 24 hours to bring it up or you could damage or reduce the battery life.

That's got rid of a couple of faults and the wiper now shows up on the scan 

 

 

I think at this point, I'd try the following:

- charge or take the car for a drive to get the voltage back up

- check the front/rear wipers work in all positions and park properly

- disconnect the battery for a minute or two to 'reset' all the modules

- do a short drive or move the steering from lock to lock and centre it

- clear all the fault codes

 

See what faults come back and if the OPS now works. I can't see any obvious coding issues that would stop the OPS at this point 😕

Given the wipers work, the faults might now be flagged as intermittent with any luck.

 

I believe when byte 6 is set to 00 it'll ask the car what it thinks it is and use those graphics for OPS. I'd leave it as 00. Feel free to try it, just remember to reset the Columbus after coding changes  by holding <  >  star/mic buttons

Byte 6 has nothing to do with OPS on the Columbus. Byte 6  relates to the DAB radio frequency and DAB inactive setting. I can see no reason why byte 6 should be relevant, unless you're following instructions for a different make or model of car. Something here doesn't add up.

Edit: Indeed, it doesn't add up, because those instructions relating to Byte 6 are for the RNS310 unit.

Drove the car a few kilometres so that it could learn about itself (side mirrors would not fold, power window would not work when 

long pressing the unlock button, .... )

Performed a scan, no errors reported .... but still no OPS display.

 

As for the software, I stick to VCDS, did use OBD11 in order to get started and __NOT__WASTE_TIME__ ==> This proved to be a  huge mistake :-( Lesson learned :-)

Good to see there are no error codes

 

Columbus doesn't have a battery, any settings are likely to be stored in it's EEPROM. the code is stored by the instrument cluster's EEPROM so it's expected to just work after a battery replacement.

 

As for the windows/mirrors, they just need to learn the end stops. For each window, press down until it hits the bottom and hold for a few seconds, then hold up until it hits the top and hold for a few seconds. That should sort the one touch up/down and probably the folding mirrors on long press too.

 

Next questions...

- In 10: Park/Steer Assist, can you grab pictures of each byte so we can check the coding looks sensible?

- In 37: Navigation, byte 8 is 10. Might be worth trying 00 and doing the < > * reset, not that I expect it'll make much difference (boot logo?)

So, worked on the car yesterday.

 

Funny thing, or translation error , trying to factory reset the Columbus unit fails.

I got an error message saying "Factory settings not loaded". It is deterministic, tried with engine on or engine off.

Always the same result.

 

As for the screen captures here they are.

Setting byte 8 to 0 for the navigation system, now I have a beautiful startup screen with the old logo and green color which I tend to prefer to the new one.

In 10, only one thing stokes me, but better ask before than trying to poke around randomly : Byte 0, bits 2 and 3 are set to 10 (if I get the endianess correctly), which is 2 hex or dec.

and from what is described on the drop down it should be 11 which is 3 . Does it need to be set to 3 in order to have the display on the head unit ?

Tonight was working on the car, enabling fog lights as CH/LH as well as emergency rear blinking.

Don't know why, but decided to enable debug on the radio.

Rebooted the radio <>*

Low tire pressure sensor lighted thus drove 2km to the gas station.

Engine stopped the time to inflate the tires.

Engine started, then suddenly display was back as you can see from the picture !!!

 

What a relief , I can finally see where the obstacles are located :-)

 

But still is a mystery why OPS disappeared .... then came back.

 

Problem sovled. But for sure, I won't use  OBD11 ever again, totally lost faith in the product.
