PLEASE help, limp mode and flashing coil light...

Featured Replies

(First post)

Hi everybody, wondering if anybody can help me please.

Car in question is a MK2 fabia 1.6 tdi standard. (2011) (100,000miles)

My Fabia came up with a flashing coil light a few months ago and went into limp home mode, 50 miles from home.

I limped home (uni) and ended up having to limp home 210 miles to my parents home at the end of May.

Both the codes and the local garrage (who is very good) have strongly indicated that the EGR was to blame.

codes: P0299  turbocharger/supercharger under boost

and: P2563 Turbocharger Boost control position sensor A circuit range / performance.

(lights showing: flashing coil light, and engine light)

Me and my dad (who is very mechanically able) replaced the EGR with a new one, bought a code reader off amazon and cleared the codes.

The codes came back after less than a mile and exactly the same.

Went into limp mode.

I have stared reading around deeper into it and it seems it can be a few things, turbo fins which are variable sticking in a certain positing causing it to go into limp mode and exhausting all boost pressure.

Which apparently can be cleaned relatively easily. Or it could it be the boost pressure sensor that has gone wrong?

Hoping somebody can help with any advice or if something similar happened to them.

Thankyou all for your time.

The sticking vane issue was on the earlier 1.9tdi engines, not sure if it is a problem on the later 1.6 tdi engines. I did have a sticking actuator rod on my previous 1.6 tdi, the power was down, but no warning lights. The Skoda assist man cleaned the rod with some WD40 moved it in and out a few times and it never stuck again.

Thanks, i think the fact is coming up with two engine codes and limp mode might suggest its a sensor, just looking for input really, thanks for your comment il take a look and see if the mk2 has a similar system ! :)
