Octavia Mk IV Leaked?

Featured Replies

'Simply Clever',  it would only be Skoda CZ / VW Group that leaked it, nobody else.

Often to Autocar in the UK as they are the ones close to Skoda / VW Group.  Auto Express usually get a sniff from their Factory Insider that will be Skoda Media employees.

Comedy sketches in Autocar as they (Haymarket Media Group) get the build up to the Octavia MkIV off to a start.

Looks like the back end is sagging.

Not splashing out on any new wheel designs with Extremes and Vega shown. Probably keeping same PCD 5 x 112 and ET47 offset as well.:giggle:

If configurator images they are showing with the ratchet staps on the springs to have the reduced wheel arch look they also like for photo shoots / static displays.

Looks like a company car (%-series) 🤢

If that’s it then it very much appeals to me.

The vrs would look great if it weren't for those comedy wheels.

Unlike the current design?

As it stands I prefer the FL mk3..... controversial i know but I really like the split headlight design, they should have carried it on and developed it more, could have been a skoda "thing"

If this is legit then it looks decent and I like it, though it looks like a facelift again to bring it's looks closer to the Scala, rather than a whole new model. That side profile is almost identical to the existing MK3.

I think it looks great - a reversal of the totally fugly split-headlight front end that certainly stopped me from buying a Mk3 FL model.  The new headlights are slinky.

I also like the approach they have taken of refining the current model without totally losing the character of the pre-FL Mk 3, which I have always liked.

The back end of the saloon/hatch looks great - more "coupe-like" which addresses the one shortcoming of this model. Personally i would be going for another estate so would love to see a final image of that that will look like - not long until 11th November now!

But is it multi link rear suspension or torque beam?

The lower powered models will have the torture rear beam as standard, unlike my 4 headlight 2017 Vrs.;)

I've yet to see a pretty Skoda so, WTF does it matter, if the price is reasonable for the spec I want I'll buy it. Simples

Only official is the sketch released a few days ago.

I see many inconsistencies between sketch and allegedly leaked configurator image, shape of lines, where they start and where they end. It matched on earlier sketches.

In my opinion this leak is photoshop from S3 pre-FL:

The clue is on the number plate surely.

The "leak" is also blurred, so you don't see details around the grill which are hard to be drawn by hand.

Could be that even Škoda itself launched the fake.

I also don't believe new RS will have the very same wheels as the existing one. Come on, to make completely new model on which everything is already seen will be a huge disappointment.

Found on a Czech forum - seems to be straight from the configurator files.

its morphing into a mondeo... love the wheels though very lambo

Yeah. I’m 95% convinced the configurator renderings are what we’ll see come November.

And for those critics of the torsion bar axle.

"And it’s this sense of plush refinement that defines the Skoda’s dynamics. The suspension works more discreetly now, even on these cars with their less sophisticated torsion beam rear (more powerful versions and the 4x4s will get a multi-link arrangement). Tweaks to the springs and dampers (engineers were cagey at this stage as to the exact changes) have resulted in a fraction more compliance, while there’s much less bump thump over sharper imperfections. In combination with the quieter mechanicals and lower wind noise it makes for hushed progress."

Also the quote....

Still, the aerodynamics have been improved, by 14 percent, meaning this latest model slips through the air more easily, end quote....

14 percent is huge. Lets hope that will lessen the wind noise.

combined with extra noise insulation and improved mechanics.

And let's hope they've also reduced the road/tyre noise that so many owners on here  complain about.

For me the most negative thing when I got back after a month driving hire cars in the USA was the much worse road noise in our 1.4TSI Octavia than either of the hire cars - 2020 Toyota Corolla and 2020 Kia Sorento.
