Any one fit a exide battery

Which goes to prove @gregoir has been living in a hole for 40 years..😉

Yes, I have a long memory. I used to certify traction batteries (up to 1500Ah ) for mining use. Exide shut their factory. Oldham survived for a while, but the failure of the UK mining industry led to their decline. I think Fiamm, Italian firm , soldiered on making specialist fork lift batteries.

Sounds like it's not holding charge like it should - worth changing it before Winter really arrives IMHO.

I'll be back to Skoda to have done on warranty

Good luck with that. I persisted under warranty and it was changed. Moll seems to have had the highest anecdotal failure rate.

Do you have any examples to back that statement up?

Several members on the Ross-Tech forums have just swapped their batteries and then posted on the forum asking why their Start/Stop still didn't work or why they keep getting DTC codes for moduels being powered down - changing the battery serial number in the BMS made all those problems go away.

If your battery wasn't completely knackered then yes you might get away with "plug and play" but it's just a case of luck if you do.

Just had a look and mine is Moll

I recently replaced my OEM battery with a Varta AGM one and the car starts much more promptly now, I use Stop/Start all the time and occasionally the car had failed to start or took a smidge longer than I expected. I was surprised what a difference the new battery made. The OEM one was EFB. I had it fitted by an independent VAG specialist who coded the car for the new battery.

Quick question: do I need to get it re-coded if I replace the battery with the exact same make and model as the oem Exide EFB?

Yes, you need code the change of battery serial number so the BMS recognises a new battery has been fitted.

Fitted an Exide Premium in my Yeti type 027 £51 with the current eBay 20% off certain sellers.  They are nice well made batteries. Exact fit and no issues with re-coding etc.  Some warning lights come on for a minute or two whilst the ECU settles down.  Fitted the same type of battery to a 20 year old Toyota Yaris, which stood for 6 months and it started first time.

Sooo... if I change the battery myself, I can expect, but not necessarily see issues without coding the new battery in?

 Yes

Most Exide Batteries are the exact same battery as the Bosch Counterpart only a lot cheaper
