So there I was coming home from Ikea tonight, following an artic, when I saw a piece of plastic on the road. Too close to avoid :thumbdwn: So I went over it. BANG. CRASH. Not plastic, metal :eek::eek:

A mile further on the low oil level warning light came on :mad:

Skoda Assist were very prompt and 45 minutes later the Octy was on the back of a transporter headed to the dealers. I pick up a 48 - hour courtesy car tomorrow

But what is a new sump going to cost to get fitted? I don't expect that would be covered by warranty............:(

Ouch!..:thumbdwn:

Bad luck mate.

Sorry to hear that Alan. :( Thick end of

Sorry to here of your misfortune. Have run over a traffic cone in the outside lane of the motorway before now. Heaven knows how it got there.

Hopefully only the sump is damaged and nothing else, this brings back memories of a certain welsh meet and a line of octys parked up at the roadside with oil all over the road. Quiet a few sumps were broken.

Hopefully the'll give you a 1.2 Fabia and you'll see the light.

he'll never cope with the power of the 1.2!

Bad luck on the car though. good to hear assist was good

Very impressed with Assist.

And the courtesy car is coming from Avis, courtesy of the AA. Hope it's something decent - I have to go up to Inverness on Friday to collect SWMBO and the boys.

is it at Newmarket Alan?

Sorry to read about your bad luck. I hope it's not as bad as £300 worth though, I reckon....

Sump's about £75 + Vodka and Tonic, sealant £14 + vat, sump plug £0.90 + vat

about an hour labour £140. + vat in all I think. Depends if there is any other damage or not. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Pity I got new wheels ;)

They are pretty damn good up there though, the mechanics are keen as mustard and really helpful, and dont BS you about prices at the desk. You should be sorted soon

And I only got it serviced on Saturday. New oil and filter :thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

I think you can consider that a flush then!!!

Got to be pretty careful on the A34 / M4 for both cones & metal parts (shreaded lorry tyres and warning signs (!!) mainly that have fallen sideways into the fast lane).

I've been lucky so far in the Furb but my Peug 205 hit a log that went clean through the joint in the driveshaft & required a LOT of luck not to crash

If you're paying for the work already it may be worth getting a baffled sump instead I suppose? Glad it didnt shread one of your tyres though, could have been a lot worse :(

Cost me approx

Similar thing happened my brother in a Seat Leon. He ran over a tailgate from a trailer - slashed his front tyre, and ripped his fuel tank. It was going to cost

That'll teach you, next time have your accident at the weekend . :)

Now your going to have the pleasure of an extended test drive in a small Fabia. :D

Fancy taking the Focus to KH tonight as it's a "Sport" might manage to pass a small back Fabia.

Newmarket will then give me a courtesy car  Hopefully not one of these bl00dy Fabias :peepwall::peepwall:

They gave me an Octy 2 TDI when they massacred my interior, sorry, fitted my new carpets.

If you have to wait as long on your sump as I've had to on my centre console, there will be no oil left in the world to fill it with:D

Neil

Mate at work did something similar when he drove over a concrete block in the road (which he thought he could clear!) in his 1.8T A3. Cost him about

Just phoned the garage - they haven't looked at it yet, but may be able to make a temporary repair. When I said that I had to make a return journey to Inverness tomorrow they told me that there are taxis that have been running around for months with patched up sumps :eek::eek:

If they send the sump to a local metal basher to be wleded up there is no reason why it wont be fine for ever.

Look on the bright side, the oil spread underneath the car will stop it rusting!!

Some people pay good money for the same effect!

And just think of all those poor transplant patients that have been waiting patiently for new kidneys, hearts etc, you'll be their hero once all the organ donors come in. (organ donors 'AKA' motorcyclists)
