And just think of all those poor transplant patients that have been waiting patiently for new kidneys, hearts etc, you'll be their hero once all the organ donors come in. (organ donors 'AKA' motorcyclists)

:(:(:( I did call the police at the time. As it was p1ssing down with rain most of the oil will have washed away.

And the garage have just called to say that I made a *really* good job of destroying the sump :cool::cool: It can't be patched so I won't get the car back until Tuesday. I'm getting a courtesy car on Saturday but I've got the powerhouse 1.4 Focus until then :thumbup:

Got the car back this morning. They'd washed it :thumbup::thumbup:

Got the bill.

Glad you got it back, bill was less than i thought, first wash in ages as well :)

Does the sumpguard just attach to the body work, or does it attach to any of the other underbody plastic work?

Does it hang any lower than the plastic one this is already there?

Another question is where can you get them from or is anyone considering/doing a group buy on them for the octy as this seems to be an issue.

Does anyone know if the new octy have the same issue?

AFAIK the guard that Tavia mentions is in fact a genuine Skoda part which utilises a frame work that secures under the car and then the reinforced part fits to that.

The main parts are -

Engine/gearbox assy skid plate 1J0 018 930 C for petrol engines

skidaplate.pdf

and for those of us with diesel power beasts?

Cheers,

Matt

Blimey you just want everything don't you!!! :P

Have you viewed the attachment?

Skid plate is the same and you'll need the sound absorber which is another £30.

All prices are plus Mafia Tax.

Have you viewed the attachment?

Yes....

and no...!!

Thanks for that :-) I had better start saving then!

The skoda part, is that a metal one as i already have a large plastic thing fitted to the underside of my car?

Oh and mine is a diesel too :)

I think the plastic bit that is currently fitted is removed and replaced the two new parts, but I stand to be corrected!

It's a heavy duty plate.

i justed phoned my dealer to find out, but I am waiting for them to call me back... Should be a laugh... they probably won't know what I am talking about!

If you have supplied them with the part numbers from the page I gave you it'll be no problem. The prices I gave you should be pretty accurate. IIRC you need to have a couple of 'nutserts' pressed into the chassis.

I had one on my RS, and then fitted one to my diesel. Mounts to the chassis. Very, very solid :D I've hit it loads and never broken anything (well apart from a speed bump, took a huge chunk out of it :D )

Cool... well I am still waiting for Westover Skoda to call me. Infact come to think of it they were meant to be calling me back a few months ago and never did.... I might be in for a long wait!

Maybe I should try Loaders Skoda up in Yeovil instead....

If you are contacting westover they are my local dealer, wonder if they would do a discount if a few of us got together?

Anyway I'm popping in to Winchester Skoda tomorrow for them to fix something they part fixed previously so I can ask there if you like.

Cool... why not! Where are you based then? (might want to PM the answer to me!)

Do you find Westover any good at all? I find them pretty useless! As I live in Weymouth, popping to Yeovil is generally easily and the mechanics there are great (thats were my replacement foc turbo came from!)

PM for you regarding where I am based :)

As for Westover it's a mixed bag I think.

They are fairly friendly and not too expensive when you want servicing doing. However and this is the big however, I find them poor at diagnosing faults, often comming back with the no it's just how they are reasoning.

If you want a nice long list of the faults they have failed to fix that other places have found and fixed first time just give me a pm and I'll keep it off the pages :)
