Try another card, possibly max. 32GB, formatted under FAT32 with cluster size = 4096 bytes

I solved the problem with android auto en internet services yesterday, by pulling out for 15 min the fuses of infotainment and the cluster, for me fuse 12 en 17. I mentioned it if some who read the post are struggling with it also.

So.  I did the following. I used an old map SD card form Skoda formatted as you told me and also I erased the  "system volume information" hidden folder that windows create not to make any confusion with the device. This time it worked out. It only updated the one that failed the first time. Many many thanks @pab567for the unselfish help and sharing the updates with us. One more short info. Any idea is its possible to activate the SmartLink . With VCDS maybe.

 

Possible but not with VCDS - unit must be patched (hacked).

Since I have component 5Q0035819A (Bolero). As far as I understand it is not possible to get either MirrorLink or SmartLink with this model. Is there any point in updating it then?

If you want to get SmartLink, rear view camera support or voice control then unit must be replaced, e.g. to 5Q0035840x (x - any letter A, B or C). If you are interested pls contact me on PM.

Hi @pab567. Me again. I have some issue with the updated firmware version. I run a full scan today at work with Gutmann tester and I get an issue that the software version is false. I scanned at home again with VCDS and its the same.

Addendum: I am sure that the software version is 0478. However, it seems that this has not been displayed for some time.

Android Car and Apple CarPlay is integrated in every version of the firmware (if your Nav has Navigation). Eighter you ask your VW Dealer for a SwapCode (you have to pay for that) or you try to hack the unit. If you are thinking about hacking the unit there are several other topics in this forum with manuals to do that.
