According to Autoexpress a Run out R36 is planned with 300Bhp!!!! Now that would be a great car!

IMO it looks very similar to a Leon, though that's not a bad thing.

I'm seeing a bit of Alfa 147 there, towards the back 3/4 - but again, no bad thing :D

I like it...

Steve

hmmm ,nice

That front end is very nice, loving the wheels too

AutoExpress also had photos of the MKV R36 testing at the ring

That site is taking aaaaaaaaaagggggggggeeeeeeesssss to load up !!!

Alfa 147ish rear end & new Passat/Jetta front end.

Dont get too excited, its only a Auto Express Photoshop guess  I read it in the local magazine library (Sainsburys)

Apparently, VW are eager to bring the release of the MK VI forward to 2008 instead of 2010 as the MK V costs too much to produce.

They haven't been selling as well as projected so each Golf produced is

*love* the 2 door "new corrado" one...>!

New corrado idea gets my vote too.

I'm seeing hints of Audi A3 around the front and those rear lights look to be lifted off the new A4 almost.

How about differentiation as opposed to assimilation? The Octavia Mk1 was golf platform and raided the VAG parts bin like crazy, but from exterior visuals, you'd never know.

Definate Alfa 147 rear.Getting a bit bored with Golf/Focus/Astra metamorphisis.Give us something new new.Corrado vote here

The R36 Mk V looks stunning though.Wheels similar to a Lamborghini Gallardo.Double stunning!

Can't believe they're talking about releasing the Mk6 in 2008. The Mk4 sold in vast numbers but was a slow starter, that model ran for about 6 years IIRC. The Mk5 is supposedly a far superior car to the Mk4 (although I don't really like the look of it) maybe VW are being to impatient ? Or maybe we're seeing the result of Skoda and Seat stealing too many Golf sales ?

The Gold MKIV has only been out a few years. Jeez, new cars come and go so fast these days. Hope they don't change models this quickly with the new Fabia and i'm glad the current model has been out for 6-7 years now as I think that's about the right length for each car before they should get shelved for a new model.

In North America we've got the MkV GTI, but the Mk5 Golfs don't even go on sale until May or June. And you're already getting spy pix of the Mk6 -- it just isn't fair.

Some of us are looking forward to the rear independent suspension in the Mk5.

You got the new Jetta before us though, didn't you? So you had the Mk5 technology,, just in a different form :)

Maybe that's because the booted Golf always sells better in the States than here? I get the impression Americans prefer a saloon to a hatch?

We also got the PD injection technology years after you did. And were limited to the PD100 in the A4 models, and the PD130 in the Passat. So we've had to rely on the after-market for performance upgrades.

But then again, who wants diesel over there when fuel prices are like they are? Or are you suffering increases too?

When ever I'm over in USA/Canada, I only see diesel pickups and trucks. And even then it's because they need the torque to shift some heavy trailers, not through choice or a want for better economy.

yes, but you get big muscle cars for about half the price we do, so you're not getting *all* that much sympathy! :D

Canada has relatively more diesel cars than the US. But they are gaining popularity in the US as well. The problem is that only VW and Mercedes-Benz have offered a diesel engine option in passenger cars. And VW has earned a bad reputation because of so many dealer screw-ups. Folks get tired of taking their cars back, over and over, for the same problem. (This was mainly with the petrol-powered VWs, but not entirely. Many TDI owners have learned to work on their own cars, and avoid dealerships entirely after the warranty period.)

Fuel prices are up sharply in the last few months, and dealerships are running out of new Jetta and New Beetle TDIs. They ran out of Mk4 Golf TDIs several months ago, and there have been no Passat TDIs since the end of the 2005 model year. Prices for previously-owned TDIs are very high, with some being offered for more than they cost when new. The laws of supply and demand are being rigorously enforced.
