Upgrading to Columbus 9.2" MIB 2.5

Featured Replies

I have just ordered a Columbus 9.2" MIB 2.5 head unit and screen from fleabay. It is allegedly plug and play (according to the seller) though he mentions that there might be some sound issues which will require coding.

Is this likely to be fibbing on the seller's part? Is any additional hardware required when upgrading from a MIB 2 Amundsen?

Does anybody know if OBDEleven will be sufficient for the job? I have seen mention on here of tokens etc, are there usage limitations? The website states that the Ultimate unit come with 500 credits but there is nothing in the FAQ about what they are or how far they will get me. I am also considering VCDS HEX-V2 with a 3 VIN limitation. Anybody know what the best option is here?

What this means is that the ODIS work and CP has been done but the radio menu options will need coding to your car. I don’t really recommend this is a first time coding job and there are no instructions, it’s a case of scanning the old radio then copying over the relevant parts to the new one (isn’t a complete copy and paste as some stuff will be different). OBDEleven with the PRO pack will do it (you don’t use credits with PRO, that’s only for pre written apps that you should never, ever use!) but VCDS will be better. One wrong move with either can be damaging though so please tread carefully.

Thanks Sasha, really appreciate your assistance.

Well I have the VCDS Hex-v2 and the stereo units coming in the next few days. I am a data recovery engineer by trade and repairing firmware on hard drives and SSDs is my trade. For this reason, I know that jumping in blind can lead to all sorts of problems.

Time for me to get reading and learning methinks! :)

Hello sorry for assaulting this tread.

I have retrofited  a hacked 9.2 columbus (it had to be because i upgraded from bolero so i wouldn't have GPS if dealer retrofited it) .

I sended a backup of my original adaptation a conding to the person that hacked my unit and it is now placed in my car working but somethings need to be done, GPS is working fine and is coded correctly in dashboard i had to do that with obd11. The doner car had AID and i only have full color maxidot and I'm a litle lost in what to do here ,what can i do about ambient light in maxidot, car and the radio it self, can someone give me a hand please.

You need to change the long coding from MOST to CAN display in 5F and you will need FL BCM for ambient lighting, it’s not part of the radio package.
