2016 vrs 230 2.0 TSI error codes

Featured Replies

So, my car’s been sat around a lot during lockdown, but it had a good run in July down to the coast and it’s been running fine.

Went for a drive last week and the engine light came on, so I checked the codes and reset them and then it happened immediately again.

The codes are P0445 (evap circuit), P2088 and P2090 which are both camshaft position actuator control circuit errors.

I replaced the evap purge valve as it was only £13 but it didn’t make any difference, same errors. Checked the wiring and all looks fine.

Car drives totally normal and it’s booked into Skoda for next week but anyone got any ideas on what it might be?

To my mind the evap error is separate to the camshaft position sensor unless a faulty ecm is driving both errors but it would seem unlikely.

Did you replace the evap solenoid with a new genuine part? If so it must be wiring or, seemingly a lot less likely ecm fault.

The camshaft position sensor faults on a and b camshaft seem far to coincidental to be both faulty at same time.  Have you checked oil level is good? Or if that is ok, maybe timing chain stretch or slip but I've not heard of many of those incidents on the gen 3....

Skoda have done a check and they say that the errors are all caused by a fuse which is tripping. All the sensors ground to the coolant pump so they said they need to change that. Apparently they’ve seen a few like this and changing the pump has fixed it but they can’t guarantee it will. This cars already had the turbo replaced under warranty so it’s not been the most reliable.

Just to close this off, the replacement coolant pump fixed the issue.

Never would of guessed that in a million years. Experience from a dealer pays, sometimes!
