Do you mean that they changed the left/right dial displays or you had a new digital cockpit layout which was not available before?

When I left the car the digital display was set to show the usual layout of speedo and rev counter dials, when I collected the car it was blank apart from the digital speedo in the centre. I think someone must have accidentally pressed the left or right button on the right section of the steering wheel.

My issues re-appeared yesterday, centre screen did not come on when I started the car and manoeuvre assist braking was unavailable.

I'm afraid I've joined the growing list of owners rejecting vehicles plagued with the technological problems. (It would be interesting to know how many have been rejected over recent months.......)

Can I join the Ex-Demo Owners Club.  I also voiced my concern that my car had been driven by a senior member of staff for a couple of months and guess what, he didn't notice the re-occurring error messages.  Like you all they were totally unaware until I reported it.  I have been told they likewise want my car for an unknown period and will collect it and leave me with a courtesy car but at present haven't been informed what it will be.  Anyway, things are moving now hopefully in the right direction.

Best of luck everyone - our conjoint efforts appear to have worked not to mention the legality issue re Imperial/Metric readings.

Happy Easter to you all.

Yep, Ex-Demo club here too. Part of my argument was that it should have been spotted and never re-sold in the UK (MPH/KMH issue)

My car is in the dealers at the moment, but I received a call from Skoda on Thursday saying that they are renting me a car. I currently have a Fabia loaner at the moment, but as I'm 6' 6" driving one is both comical and painful for me - Seat as far back as it goes, unable to get left foot behind pedals. I have asked for 'something bigger' which I am told will be with me next week.

It's interesting that they seem to be taking all the problematic cars off the road, I wonder if the legality aspect is at play here?

Phil

Apart from that late email from Kate Laws which I replied to, I haven't heard a thing from them.

Most definitely Phil as it was explained to me by the Executive Office and urgently!  We obviously touched the right nerve and found the Achilles heel.

Anyone else had any updates? I got an email from Kate Laws over a week ago asking for information around the faults I was having. I replied the same day and haven't had a reply or acknowledgement.

Skoda UK haven't even shown the courtesy of making any contact with me whatsoever.

I don't expect them to at this stage, and from the 'updates' provided since HJ passed our details on I don't expect anything from them now even if they did.

Nobody seems to have made any real progress beyond what is happening for those of us leaving their cars with the dealer for investigation/further software, and HJ doesn't appear particularly interested, probably because there are thousands of VW Group car owners suffering similar issues to each other.

It looks like Kate is on hol today, back tomorrow.

I'm just waiting on the final call to tell me to come and drop the car off for the last time.

It's no problem. They are sorting me with a replacement until they can sort it. I'm told it will be something of Octavia or bigger so it will be nice to drive something else! I don't mind as long as it comes back sorted, and if my car is used as a test to get everyone of the others sorted, then so be it.

Hi OctaviaFirstEdition, just wondering if you've had any feedback from Skoda on your car?  Thanks...

My dealer, having seemingly exhausted the software updates, has been requested by Skoda UK to inspect the wiring trail.

First time I have heard mention that dodgy wiring could be causing faults. Also unsure how realistic a cause this could be, for such varied symptoms and given some would have no obvious link to inadequate wiring, i.e. symptoms come and go. Something not wired correctly surely never works. Plus I fail to see wht something like icons randomly not displaying sometimes would be linked to a loose wire or frayed/burnt cable.

Weird, as it suggests Skoda UK not only don't know how to fix the issues from the outset, but obviously they don't know either what is even causing them.

I have had no response to date about all my issues and and no follow up from the HJ email I sent. The last thing I heard was Skoda UK have closed my case, due it being an issue between the garage and the factory. It’s getting a bit bit ridiculous now!

Car only went in today. Been told it is likely to be with them for at least a fortnight. I have given the dealership 8 things to look at whilst they are at it.

Been given a Kamiq. Now, the Kamiq is reviewed highly by seemingly all reviews.  First drive and it rattles  alot! Otherwise okay, but it certainly makes yoy appreciate the Octavia (when it works).

That is worrying.

@gazfor which issue(s) are they reviewing the cabling?

It can't see the cabling impacting the mph/kmh one but it is true that incorrectly spec'ed cable gauge or lower quality cabling can create lots of strange and random issues.

@OctaviaFirstEdit  Have you checked and set the tyre pressures of the Kamiq they handed over?

It might help the rattles, and the pressure their workshop sends cars out with might give an idea of how they deal with stuff at that dealership & how important customer safety is dealt with.

Re wiring issues.

I wonder if they intend taking in the ID3 & ID4 with switches that do not work and functions with glitches that customers think will be dealt with eventually with software updates

It is to cover the whole range of issues I believe (Although K/MPH is the only issue others have reported that I have never had).

The thing is, the first software upgrade I had actually introduced two new errors, I'd not had a front assist or parking sensor error until the update. So what does this demonstrate...That the software remains bug ridden? That the car parts and software can't interact properly? That the wiring used does not meet the spec needed for the computer hardware and software to work as needed?

Maybe cabling IS at fault, but how on earth do they determine that if the cables aren't actually damaged in any way, without presumably replacing the entire wiring loom?!

I can see me either getting back a car which will once again be showing errors as soon as it is back in my hands, or I won't be seeing it for weeks.

The most troubling aspect is that now they are moving away from software, it shows that Skoda do not KNOW what is wrong with our cars.

I have this afternoon had another email from Skoda Customer Services. They have asked me to contact the dealer for them to run reports to the factory. This was done last week! There is also mention of getting me a hire car but it is not clear when or why. I suppose it may be when when the factory advises the dealer what has to be done.

I have also raised the High Beam Assist issue and have now been told that it is available on my car but at present can only be paid for by Bank Transfer to Luxembourg!

I am lucky though as they seem to be the only issues I have - at present!

Can I ask what you mean by "They have asked me to contact the dealer for them to run reports to the factory"?

As in, run diagnostics on your car to...upload to Skoda?

As far as I know, my dealer is liaising with Skoda but in terms of speaking to them to state what they are doing, then asking advice on what to do next. That isn't to say they aren't uploading data of any kind, but it hasn't been mentioned as part of what they are doing.

Funnily enough I do have a car, which is referred to as a 'hire car'. Is that just what dealers refer to as a courtesy car these days, or are we thinking Skoda are actually paying the dealer to 'hire' the vehicles on our behalf?

I wonder, just because I have still had zero personal contact from Skoda (despite HJ logging it with them), but wonder if this may be if Skoda know my vehicle is with the dealer already (and by all accounts in this thread it sounds the most Skoda are offering as help is telling people to go back to their dealer).

Thanks for the update.  Mine was going in today but had to change it to the 20th as they couldn’t get me a hire car with a towbar and I needed it next week.  Will be interesting to see what happens with yours in the meantime.  I thought mine was behaving itself and then it decided to no longer have the CarPlay or telephone function and then later the occupant protection system failure alarm came up.  Both went away next time the car was started.  I’m keeping a log of every event to present to Skoda on the 20th.

We were promised likewise however haven't had any update or expectation of when etc.  I was told they would collect and drop off courtesy car in the meantime.

Good question! I am assuming they are going to upload the report to the factory for the factory to decide what needs to be done. Heaven knows when I will hear anything!

I would just (for now) ensure you get a courtesy car from them, especially with the weekend coming up.

I would also suggest, when you get the car back, to photograph/video all future errors (where safe, i.e. not while driving) on your phone so they are effectively date stamped. I have a few things recorded but will be recording everything possible when I get it back, for what my next step will be, which is: I imagine I would be looking to start the returns process, although I do not imagine I will have an easy ride with that. I'll do it by letter or email though and try to copy the finance side into it, so I don't get instantly fobbed off. I'd rather have my own car back, as a functional car though.

Absolutely this! I'm afraid I don't have a great deal of confidence that they will fix the 'kangerooing' or the KPH Issue. If there are any problems at all after they hand the car back, I intend to reject. In fact, if I get anything wrong on the drive home from picking it up, I will drive straight back and demand that the return process is started.

I have the Kamiq, and although not impressed to begin with, it is great. To start with, I get in it with every confidence that it will work! The systems, though older work much better.

I will keep my fingers crossed about my car because it has everything I need, but I have really lost confidence in it. Let's hope they sort it! I am now very tempted by a Karoq though!

It’s tempting to go with something more established even if it’s slightly less flash. I saw someone else has now gone for Tiguan which is probably closer to the golf 7.5.

Whilst I'm willing to try to give this car a chance as from a ticks the boxes perspective the Octavia is at the top of the list.  However, I don't have confidence in the car and I'll be honest, the driving experience is not particularly good either.  Sometimes it's great, but most of the time the engine seems unresponsive (even in sports mode).  The courtesy car I was given (another 1.5 TSI) was the polar opposite and really nice to drive.  The engine sounds and feels noticeably rougher!

I've no idea what to do if they can't sort the infotainment or the driveability, I've spent 1000 pounds on a new towbar, roof bars, bootliner and rubber mats so it'll be a financial hit, but better that then years of concern.  It's only a car, but as it's the family workhorse it has to be reliable.  Our last car was a ford Grand C-max, bought from new and 8 years /140,000 miles of totally trouble free motoring!

Here's hoping!
