No offence to anyone on here, but with this not being quite the same as a uk meet, it needs financial commitment in a non-refundable way. I'm happy to do that. I've already booked the fri & mon off work, but am wondering with such an early start on the friday, maybe I should think about having half of thursday off too? It sounds like we're all meeting near Calais/Dunk at around 10am/11am.

More time for ring-action though! (NO misquoting  )

So if i decide on a Hotel which i feel will be up to my Fellow Briskodians obvious high standards shall i make a reservation for 5-7 rooms?

yep I could give you the cash straight away. You've got my number and I could meet up with you at Hainault to hand it too you

booked the days off work today , just waiting to be confirmed , got part numbers from our parts (ford) department for a kit , which includes warning triangle , hi vis tabard and first aid kit ,about £17 with ford discount , just have to a sort bulb kit now for the fabia which shouldn't be too difficult

Last time I drove there I didn't bother with these things. :) Perhaps it might be worth me taking something this time around though? Want to try and keep car weight to a minimum

will your car actually move with all the extra weight of the LPG tank etc and then adding a warning triangle as well LOL

I have added how many rooms i need next to my name so if the rest of you could do this it will give me a really good idea as to how many rooms to reserve.

I think that Cochem is a really good idea of where to stay so have started sending emails to check availablilty.

the sooner i have an idea of how many rooms are needed i will reserve them.

And i will be booking myself on the 7:58am Channel Tunnel crossing.

i'm still waiting on confirmation that i can have the days off , my boss is a bit of a tit you see  will know for definite (please note spelling of definite:D ) on monday me hopes:thumbup:

577 miles from Dawlish to Cochem. Easy peezy japanesy. Did it in 8 hours the last time I came back from Germany.

Just checked current Eurotunnel prices: £133

I'm going with Norfolkline.

me too. :D Gets you 30/40 miles closer to the final destination too. And I love ferry trips.

I would suggest if the plan is to meet over there around 10ish' date=' that we get the 8am ferry! That means me leaving Devon at 3am/2am. Think I might leave in the early evening and just have a kip in the car at Dover. :D

Well me and Jason were discussing it, it would be the 0800 sailing out on the 18th and the 1601 on the 21st. but if you prefer to go by tunnel, Wrightyrs is using that.

Yep i'm using the tunnel,

Should be booking the 7:58am tunnel, and will get a tunnel home on the Monday afternoon between 4-5pm.

You don't mind an hours wait over there do you Alex? While the slowcoaches chug over on the ickle boat. :D

8am ferry looks to be the one to go for. Anyone up for a Top Gear style race to the service stop?

  • Author

Don't mind the wait at all as us tunnel users will be able to have our breakfast why'll your all trying to keep yours down on the ferry!!!!!

i'll book the ferry tomorrow after holiday confirmation ,might book a extra day off work cause no doubt i will be knackered when i get back on monday night , question for those that have been before , what sort of spares do you take or do you all travel light so you dont have to look after all the piles of parts at the 'ring'

I'm not sure yet, what I'll be taking. :o

In theory I should really take a complete spare set of wheels, unless I can get a good long term dry forecast prediction.... In that case I'll drive there and back on my track wheels and just take two wheels for spares. Warning triangle is essential, first aid kit too I think, and I believe you need something to stick on your left headlight lens to not dazzle people.

For the Ferry, are we agreed on 0800 out on 18th and 1600 back on 21st?
