08.00 ferry from dover to dunkeque on 18th , return 16.00 on 21st is ok for me , i will try and get an extra pair of alloys (with tyres) , and do a thorough service before i go , maybe take some easy to carry consumables , but i haven't thought what they might be yet ,LOL

I've also noted that good old direct line exclude track use from my insurance - so guess that I'll have to arrange to separate track insurance.

Better check AA as well - hopefully I won't need them but better safe than sorry as it's a long way to push a car back!!

Tyres....There's a shop in Adenau which the Ring runs through, well, over and around actually.

Insurance.....grey area this one, as the Ring is classified as a German Toll Road me thinks. Check Ben Lovejoy's site for more info. I personally know two people that have been paid for crashes that have been declared as happening on the NS.

Well, as per usual, I'm not getting any form of track insurance. LV very kindly give me 6 months of EU usage with my policy so no need to get a green card to drive abroad.

I assume other people don't drive like total muppets on the Ring, and I'm definitely not going to be reckless in any way. I feel more confident in general safety and risk around the ring, than for example around Castle Combe the other weekend....

The one thing that worries me is tyres. Wondering how easy it is to get somewhere to fit new tyres for me should I wear mine out to the point of not being able to use them to get home. I'd rather not bring spare wheels with me if I can help it.

Well, I might bring a pair of 17s as if I knacker anything on the front, I need wheels to go over 312mm brakes - that limits me to using 16s or 17s only.

I'm looking forward to it, and the knowledge a VAG tech is going to be nearby / on call is very reassuring. May have to give him a lap as a thank you. (hopefully only a thanks for being there, not having to do anything )

edit: That hotel looks very nice but looks to be only double beds.... as much as I don't mind sharing, in the same bed is a little much. If it were 333 euros for 2 people in a shared room with 2 beds, I'd be well up for that.

Just for your info Jason the "Double Beds" in German hotels are always like 2 single beds together.

This where we currently stand with definate attendees and whos booked what so far,if the 4 single travellers are ok with sharing a room.will keep your costs down.
