Virtual Cockpit Retrofit with Columbus and Canton

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I retrofitted the virtual cockpit and had it coded remotely a few weeks back, all fine. I wasn't able to fit the fibre optic at the time because I have the Canton sound system so needed to buy/make a fibre optic splitter.

I installed the fibre optic and splitter yesterday but am having trouble with the maps displaying all messed up. Sound is working fine and the map display is changing as I move so I'm happy the physical installation is OK.

I spoke to the guy who coded the cluster in and followed instructions to disconnect cluster power attach fibre to MIB and then cluster and reapply power. All combinations of connections result in the same output on the clusters

MIB firmware is v1440, cluster firmware is 1710

Has anyone any ideas what to do here??

Have you got an autoscan from VCDS and the adaptation map from 5F you can post?

navigation_map_resolution was set to resolution_1 but changed to 3 and hard reset the MIB but no change

Is there a suitable equivalent in obdeleven?

@RomanB I left the resolution setting as you had advised above and parked up. When I started it after a few hours it was working. I had reset both the dash and mib via obdeleven but something about leaving it powered off has done the trick.

Thank you!

Hello everyone,

Today i tried to retrofit a virtual cockpit. After coding 17-Instruments everything seems to work. So after that i went for the above coding.(thank you romanB). After resetting the mib and leaving the car powered off i still don’t get any display of a map or coverart. Am i missing something? I have the canton so I installed the  MOST splitter.  Audio is working fine and i saw the red lights coming from the fiber when I connected it to the cluster.

If you have any idea, please tell....

Probably worth posting an autoscan and an adaption map from 5F :)

I found the issue. 5F → coding→ byte 22 → Bit 0

what trim piece did you need above the steering wheel for a good fit? do you have a part number for that? thanks (this may only apply to certain year cars)

I'm still working on the trim piece. I need a different one. I was told I needed the same part nr but than for a facelift model. But my dealer can't find it in etka. So still researching it.

I think the pre-facelift parts are

3V0857053NF8 or 3V0857053ANF8 and we just need to figure out the facelift part numbers for these. it may help to give the VIN of a facelift car to your dealer

@Camarao69 should have the answer to this.

The correct part is 3v0857053A  ( to use with virtual cockpit) the last letter A is very important , the next letters has to do with the color mine is NF8 (silver)

The trim I got/used isn't the carbon fibre of the dash and I was told the carbon fibre version wasn't available.

Thanks for this info! I was now able to order the part.

Really? Maybe if you look at the colour code of the old part it is available now. I now ordered Part nr. 3V0857053A N77  . N77 is the color code for piano black. You correct color code should be printed on the white label on the back of your old cluster trim piece.

I had to buy mine directly from dealer, i wiil see you color code a poste here.

While we're at it... anyone have the correct part number for the virtual cockpit steering wheel buttons with paddles. I went to fit mine and the paddle connectors weren't there 😔

I have recieved the following info from a fellow forum member:

As for MFSW buttons, I believe there are four types:

- 3V0 919 719 E (manual)
- 3V0 919 719 F (DSG)
- 3V0 919 719 G (manual + heated)
- 3V0 919 719 H (DSG + heated)

I've been told that DSG versions work in manual cars and that heated versions work without heated wheels. I've never confirmed this so try it at your own risk.

Maybe you can check your part number.

Does anybody know how to connect the MOST cable to both the VC and CANTON?

i have the orange MOST as per below. If i connect it to the MIB2.5 it leaves 1 female and 1 male connection.

Problem is that both the CANTON and VC MOST cable will only accept male.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong

You can change over your spare female most connector i see in you last picture with a male connector on your splitter. I had to do this also. There are arrow on the connectors for the data stream. Make sure you put the correct fibre in the correct position.

Adaper is worng it should be 2 female 1 male.

Ok managed to get my mib2.5, 9.2 screen and VC retrofitted. Pretty happy but a couple of questions for those that did theirs

1) i cannot see a setting on my infotainment unit where i can personalise the screens. I just have the defaults via the steering wheel. Is their some coding or adaption that needs to occur here to enable?

2) Is there meant to be such a large gap in the trim above the infotainment unit and the trim? Or do i need another part?
