Delivery times?

Featured Replies

Hopefully it all goes smoothly for you @Sliminator. Mine was in port at Emden for a couple of weeks, but another member on here @Shelvock 's order was there for a good while longer, even though both our cars arrived at Emden at around the same time. Waiting game just goes on and on sometimes!

  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

How does this extended wait of unknown length work if you decide the wait is becoming unreasonable and you want out / to pass on the new motor - can you just tell the dealer you wish to cancel and get your deposit back or is there a procedure?

Having put my order to the back of my mind for several weeks I emailed the dealer for an update and got a reply with screenshots showing it waiting at the port to be shipped to the UK.

Whether it is complete or not I can't be sure there's lots of info in the screenshots and it does say "In port of exit released".

I ordered week 2, eventually was given a preliminary build date of week 27. Car was built week 23, so fingers crossed I'll have it soon.

I order week 1, was told week 10 delivery, then week 24, then the car was only built week 23, but not really built as it isn't finished. I've been given no info on what that means. Is it to be finished in the UK? If so when is it shipping here? I keep having to chase them for info which is also starting to annoy me.

I'm giving mine one more week I think, then I may start looking for something else.

How much £££ deposit have you put down and I assume you are expecting to get it back in full?

If you are looking at purchasing another new car made to order you will be back at square one

so maybe just stay put and wait for what will be a fantastic car (once the bugs and gremlins have all been sorted!) 😎

Spoke to my dealer yesterday. All the cars ordered will have massive delays. My was ordered March 11th, first date was second part of August, but now the dealer says it will have a longer delay. He suspects the car will not be delivered this year (but this is not confirmed). That sucs, honestly dont know what to do....Cancel or wait

If you cancel what are your options?

will you get your deposit in full returned?

what car would you want as your 2nd choice?
if new would you not still be in the same predicament as you are now.

my car has been put back ordered beginning of may told September for delivery now told December but I’m ok with that I have a work van and my wife has a car so no problem

i guess it all depends on your personal situation it’s a global issue and has no quick fix

When I went in to my local dealer, they gave me a rough realistic timescale of between 6-9 months for delivery times on a new build vRS, which is why I bought their demo instead. Would rather have a car than sit and wait for it to be pushed back eternally (been through that already with the Audi A1 back in 2019 - 3 months turned into 10 and ended up going elsewhere entirely).

I'm now on week 13 of a supposed 15 week lead time and no build date in sight. Now been informed by the Skoda online chat that my car is "being converted to an MY22 build" but they couldn't tell me any of the changes or whether they'll honour my choice of Meteor Grey, in spite of it being unavailable for new orders...just told me, "That would be a question for your retailer."

Poor really, considering it's not the retailer who decides whether a particular option is available!

If I can't get the car I actually ordered (on a lease) I'll be looking to cancel and get something in stock somewhere. It would save me having to extend and MOT my current leased Passat as well.

I spoke to my dealer recently enquiring about prices for new PCH deals and was told that it was taking much longer than usual to get new cars at present and that one of the main issues was a worldwide shortage of silicon chips used in modern cars. Elsewhere I have seen reports of brand new cars fully assembled but waiting on these chips arriving before they could be finished off. I think I'll probably go for a good secondhand car this time around as the prices quoted on leasing deals were significantly higher than what I am paying just now for my 2019 mark 3 Octavia.

I really have to think about it - I like this car a lot and nothing comes close to the price/performance it offers. So either I wait, or I buy something completely different other dealers have on stock. Only problem I have with waiting is that my current car has already 240.000 km and would need new tires and some stuff to repair/fix....

We orderd our week 5, delivery week 15 The dealer said.
Today we gonna pick up a loan car for free. The dealer estimates ~8 more weeks until our arrives.

So my order of a Meteor Grey VRS which had been accepted by the factory but not allocated a build date, now definitely can't be in Meteor Grey... As suspected.

Very disappointed in Skoda.

Interesting, so colours of MY21 won't be made anymore? Because mine is in Quartz Grey and that also isn't an option on MY22 cars. And my car isn't being built either as far as I know.

Just noticed the option for meteor grey now gone from Skoda.ie only candy white and mamba green options. Glad I ordered meteor grey (beginning of April 12 week lead) when I did due 2nd week July seeing will be believing

Parking lots with unfinished cars are getting full.

If your car will be delivered as an MY22 build, it seems that MY21 colours are not available even if your order has "been accepted by the factory" as mine had. Definitely worth checking with your retailer.

I ordered 3-4 weeks before you and haven't even got a build date yet (which is allocated something like 8 weeks before build - I'm told...).

Worth asking your dealer to confirm that your car will be a MY21 build - not sure when MY21 ends and MY22 starts - or you'll be choosing a different colour.

Of course a pro active dealer would have contacted you

I am not sure if anyone has seen a MY22 brochure, but there may be a new colour option which has effectively replaced withdrawn colours.   This could result in a default swap to the named replacement colour (unless manually intervene to update colour).

Or you might be able to pick new colour that is completely different, and wasn’t previously available so worth asking what colours will be available.

I was able to download a brochure from the Skoda website dated May 2021 a few weeks ago but this has since reverted to the April 2021 dated brochure - May one now not downloadable and no June one has been available (from what I can see). Both versions still included Meteor Grey so were refering to MY21 spec.

New default colour is Brilliant Silver. So the free colour is a metallic but you have to pay £600 for all the other normal metallics or solid red. Seems a mad pricing structure...

Haven't had confirmation from the dealer of any new colours being available but there are obviously rumours of the new yellow/green colour (Dragon?).

It's too far away to even ask, I'm going to wait a few months before asking, if they don't call me first.

Ordered white manual petrol VRS estate today with panoramic sunroof and winter pack - expected in three months time.  Trade-in (mark III facelift) fixed at £1,000 more than offered last month but new car discount £500 less - so still £500 up from last month.  Thought it would be rude not to place an order!  Had thought about ordering a Golf GTI but Golf looked a bit wee and salesman said would take 7 months for a bog standard (performance) one.  Prefer pace and space of Octavia estate.  This will be my fourth vrs over the years.

Phoned garage - currently in build week 26 and scheduled for build week 29.

Just contacted my dealer today car will be ready for pick up next week nearly 12 weeks on the nose from ordering getting excited

I had a chat with a couple of dealers yesterday after requesting some quotes on carwow.co.uk about the new Octavia and I was told new lead times are 6 months for 1.0 eTec engine, 3-4 months for 1.5 eTec and 1 month for any plugin model.

I was surprised to see he didn't budge at all when I tried to haggle a bit, he said the Skoda standard offer (£2k finance contribution, 4.1% APR) is the best he can offer.

Meanwhile, first Seat dealer I spoke to offered me 6k deposit contribution to get a Leon plugin hybrid.

Maybe I lost some of my haggling skills during the lockdown, but I would expect they would put some effort in trying to convince to buy a car with such a long lead time.

Unless they view it as "we've sold everything that can be delivered for the next 6 months, if you want one that much, you'll pay the price we offer"

Possibly even affected by the chip shortage issue that is impacting the whole industry. If they are at reduced production abilities, then why sell them cheap.
