  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

If the biggest car manufacturer group in the World which is VW Group have the same shortages as other manufacturers but can still produce some vehicles and actually sell them then surely for each group it makes sense to 'build' the most profitable ones and if they mean you are not paying millions or billions in fines because you could not meet the requirement for the Average Emissions.

Lots of ifs and buts, but then someplace there will be someone 'Simply clever' in charge of things.

Just been speaking to a good friend of mine who is a senior fleet manager for Audi. He said that the larger fleet companies generally do get their cars first, so my order may arrive in December as stated, maybe earlier.
Apparently cash buyers can come last in the queue but that’s not a 100% rule and they don’t get pushed back if a big fleet order comes in but they just won’t be prioritised.
It’s a complex issue which a few bits of news on the internet dont really get to understanding it really.

The Fleet manager will know that Audi in the UK also need to be meeting lower C02 g/km of vehicles being first registered in the UK so that will be need to be very careful in what they are delivering and what are being registered.

As it is Skoda are really a low volume seller in the UK and there are no Citigo iV any more to help with lower emissions and the Fabia being sold are few and run out models so really the lowest emission models need flogged.

So Mild Hybrids, Plug In's and EV's and then whatever else helps in their quest & obviously what is built and already imported or in transit.

Again I ask where does this info come from?the major thing I would like to ask is.WHY does skoda not enlighten us all what is going on with delivery dates.it would be nice to find out.in any case are things starting to get better in this latter part of 2021 in supply of semiconductors and delivery dates ?one last point when is vw/ skoda going let us know when a major updatee of there failed software going to come out ,to sort all these problems out.

For that I would quote Gartner - Who have already laid down predictions that the shortage on silicon based semi conductors will not be improving until Q3 (July - September) 2022 at the earliest. Unfortunately, as they are the experts in market analysis they are usually correct to the nearest quarter.

I don't recognise 7 out of 8 either, who mentioned that lease company/dealer/Skoda? I'd defo ask what they meant. I know I've said this before @Wonderloaf but you started this thread 17 pages ago, and still you don't have your car  that's tough man, anything else taking your fancy or are you going to continue to chase and wait?

I'm waiting for the dealer to get back to me. Again. There are a few nice unregistered 3 Series Estates sitting in dealers here that are tempting lol

It's crazy that the price there is similar enough for you to even consider a 3 series. Over here a base spec 330i touring is 15k Euro more than a base spec RS. And BMW definitely gets less equipment, much more expensive insurance.

Among my contenders at the same price point when I picked the RS was the 128ti but the 330i M-sport touring is actually cheaper than the Octavia RS.

If that was the case over here I wouldn't even consider a Skoda. BMW holds value way better and it's also just nicer to have.

Where I live RWD is a really bad idea if you need to get anywhere in the winter as studded tires are illegal and the roads don't get gritted.

Mine is a company car so the retail price is only one factor of many that's taken into account when I'm picking a vehicle. I went for the VRS because I love how it looks. It's just the "not knowing" that's annoying me.

Just wondering if you going for a lease car is there any way you can find out how the build is going ? Without contacting lease company.

I'm talking to the Skoda dealerships business guy. I'm not sure what his title is exactly lol

I guess you are going to say, your local Skoda dealer isn’t interested in selling, so doesn’t have any unregistered stock waiting to be bought by someone who doesn’t want to wait 3-7 months for a factory order.

Probably Fleet Manager?

I hadn’t realised how much this has affected the dealers. My local dealer’s looked almost bereft of new cars yesterday, especially compared to the end of the last lockdown, with many of the normally occupied parking slots empty. A salesman confirmed they’d sold a lot of cars but are waiting for more to come through.

Same here. In our state of New South Wales there are only 5 RS Wagons available, 4 of which are demonstrators.

Little choice of colours and no fitted options except, in some cases, sunroof.

And the demonstrators are selling for the same price as a new vehicle.

But, due to our  lockdown, you can buy from what stock they have (which is plenty for other models such as Fabia, Kamiq etc) by "Click and Collect" - like it was groceries!

Sounds normal to me. The shortage is very real.

Yep, was told to expect 10 weeks when I ordered, it didn't take long to realise that that would have been very optimistic.
