  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

Meanwhile the turn around on Toyota's is less than 4 months, and they can pin point the entire process down to the day.

One of my favorite phrases is people see what they want to see, believe what they want to believe and never let facts get in the way. Another one is the grass is always greener on the other side of the hill. All manufacturers are in the same boat, ( hopefully not the car transporter boat that caught fire off Portugal ! )

If you go over to Toyota Owners Club, you will see customers conversing with Toyota UK -  just like we do with Skoda Customer services, the only difference is their conversation is open for everyone to see. Owners are waiting exactly the same as other manufacturers - depends on what car / spec you order as to how long you have to wait. To quote the very last convesation ( to date ) as a typical example:

William - 21st Feb 2022: Wished I had read this before ordering toyota yaris excel hybrid. I ordered Jan 14, 2022. From what I was told, June or July at the latest. Steve just said November it should arrive. I don’t want to wait that long. How do I cancel my order and get my deposit back? This week, the UK is ending its covid restrictions. Will toyota’s be built faster?

Toyota UK - 22nd Feb 2022: Hi William,Thanks for your comment. Like many other businesses, the extended delivery times are due to delays in our global supply chain, not just the UK.
Please be assured we are doing everything we can to deliver our vehicles as quickly as possible. However, we would recommend discussing the available options with your Toyota Centre.
Thanks.

So with all due respect, comments such as "the turn around on Toyotas is less than 4 months" is just fake news. Everyone is having problems.

Contacted my dealer, he told that he doesn't have any information, however he almost guaranteed, that i won't get car till summer. Very sad.

Way too much much going on atm, I think it’s impossible to predict anything. Hopes for 2022 being a more normal year after covid just went down the drain…

Let's just hope the prices on our "virtual" cars won't go up at delivery; the European economy won't feel so well with all the sanctions we see being applied. Energy-wise, all prices will go up for sure.
Just be happy you're not that close to the conflict zone; Eastern Europe is not the happiest place on Earth these days...

Got word from my dealer that the car is currently at "final assembly" since 16 Feb 2022. Anyone else have a rough idea on how long it takes? Seems to be a how long is a piece of string type question.... Price increase coming at the end of March... Prices gone insane...

final assembly what that it mean ? a car like this only take a few hours to be completly build !

Actual assembly is something like 18 hours, rather depends on how you define it, as starts with body panels being welded together and painted.   If you use the definition of scheduled and parts are booked to arrive at right time at right part of production line then it’s about 3 weeks

On completion, Each car gets brief text drive over a bumpy track to check for rattles etc, might then take extra few hours if rectification needed.   But normally will be on a train to Eden port within few hours.   Allow about 2-3 days to be in ship waiting area at Emden.

Anything more then car is not complete and has gone to a holding site, for later completion, when parts are available.

I don't know but that's what the stage it showed on the build tracker. Literally just says "Final Assembly". Dealer did say that could take a while depending if it is awaiting parts etc

Yeah I'd imagine assembling it doesn't take long, but as for what final assembly means, beats me? He showed me the progress of the car on their systems and literally just says Final Assembly, 16 Feb 2022

My car ordered in early July was build week 6 and was showing as completed, with no parts missing at the start of week 7. Apparently it was sitting in the compound ready for transport. On Saturday, it was still showing as waiting for transport!!! 🤬

By contrast my wife's Skala Monte Carlo ordered in November was build week 9. It was showing as built at the end of week 7 and it's now in the UK apparently!!!! 🤯

Not that this helps with Delivery Times, but my dealer contacted me to let me know by chance there was a Blue DSG VRS Estate coming into their stock in March and is currently in the UK port.

Swiftly changed my order over and got a minor discount as it doesn’t have the options I wanted on it, as I don’t want to risk waiting until late 2022 or even 2023 for a new car.

Losing the Dynamic Chassis - which was the only option I really wanted - the front Winter Pack and Rear View Camera but they aren’t options I’ve had on cars before so not like I will miss them.

Overall I got lucky, and would suggest anyone waiting to get their dealers to keep an eye out on stock cars.

Due to pick it up next weekend.

My dealer has received at least some information about my 1.5 hatchback order from August. Preliminary production date is now around week 40 now. Which makes the estimated waiting time... 14 months 😔

I think they don't like making hatchbacks anymore. My coworker who ordered two months after me, got an estate in less then 5 months. I am also waiting since August, no info.

Nah, it might be in production or whatever for months :D

Hey guys, if the delivery is so long, can the price change? I mean, I'm going with the leasing, so i singed my contact with the bank and payed 15% in advance, so if the paperwork done, can the car's price change?

Realistically, only if they cancel your order.

Well, it would pretty crazy, because at the moment the wait time is about 7 months, and i think i will be lucky if i get car at the end of the summer, however i saw the news today, because of the war in Ukraine, there are shortage of some parts and thefore delivery time might be longer.

Not really...
There's at least one situation I read about on this very topic (can't remember the User...) where the price of the car was changed. And by "changed" I mean "increased".

Sure, let's make an imagination effort and try to figure out ourselves what parts for Octavia would be coming from either Ukraine or Russia...
I'm afraid it's just one more reason they can blame for the delays that are already over the roof. There are people here who ordered their cars 1 year ago, when the waiting time was much shorter than 1y - and they are still waiting for the car.

maybe not so lucky my car was built 5 weeks ago and no sign of it yet.told awaiting parts so a slight delay, there idea of a slight delay is not the same as me because i dont think my delay is slight.

I think it depends on the goverment regulations, i think i will call the bank and ask directly. I totally agree that delay is over the roof, when i ordered the car, my dealer said, that wait time is about 6 months, 8 months max, and now he told me, that i shouldn't expect car till till summer, when it will be already 10 months, and i have seriuos doubts that i will have it in the summer. if he would told me and delivery time is about a year, maybe i would opted to other brand.

They do have a lot to do with semiconductors, without the imagination part. Not parts directly, but for their production.

I stand corrected if you know something for sure, but let us know also.
What's the connection? How are those countries involved in the production? I really have no knowledge of their involvement in the process.
