What is happening with the door panels? Any news?

I haven't picked up anything since the fire. My octavia is probably waiting the panels at the moment. It went through the assembly line but will not be shipped.  Dealer doesn't know what it is missing.

One of the members mentioned that Skoda currently has no plan B for these products and the delivery is pushed back for several months. When did you order and what config?

👏 yeah, great idea! That must be the issue! August is usually vacation month for lots of industry in Europe - I'm starting to suspect there was no one at the factory to take the orders -> they must be flying around in the Universe.

As I mentioned already, my dealer contacted me two weeks ago with what she called "news": "your car is scheduled for production". So I asked enthusiastically: "When?"; she said they don't have this information.
However, yesterday I briefly heard from her again, only to tell me that they've got an official info from the Factory that: because of the fire in January, most of the cars currently produced are being "stored" for 3-4 months, until they estimate it will be possible to have the door panels to complete the cars.

BTW, I also found an official press release from Skoda stating that the current Russian "special operation" invasion&genocide in Ukraine is only affecting the production of Eniaq IV.

Link for that press release? My dealer told me today that Ukraine situation affects EVs and Plug-ins 😕

Strange enough, I saw it on the MediaRoom-page of Skoda, next to the announcement concerning the "situation in Ukraine" dated March 1st, but now I can't find it:

https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/media-room/?state=NEW&aid=2f1pd825-ut1n-3y9w-2vop-j9oba7lv39dg&or=www.skoda-storyboard.com

However, the info was taken over by those guys (it also shows March 1st):

https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/skoda-cuts-output-enyaq-electric-suv-due-ukraine-crisis

Skoda it's also quoted here:
https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/vws-skoda-limits-some-output-due-ukraine-production-russia-still-running-2022-03-01/

and both articlles are pin-pointing Enyaq IV specifically...

When the fire occurred (end of January I think) it completely destroyed the building and the production line for plastic components (namely door panels among other) of a Skoda subcontractor. On top of that, the fire destroyed all the stock panels on site (those produced until the fire). It's a strange & particular situation with this supplier: since it was located only ~3km away from the Skoda factory, the stock panels were stored on the site of the supplier (It was mentioned by Czech press at the time of the fire).

A rough estimation of the delay is given by the time needed to rebuild the site that was destroyed and to assemble a new production line for plastic injection; so my guess at that time was ~3 months. It was recently confirmed by my dealer who told me that Skoda said: "3-4 months delay caused by the fire in January".

I think delay because of fire will be at least 3-4 months, today my dealer contacted me and told me, that the car which I was promised to get in April (lol, I don't think I would get that even if there weren't any fire) I will get probably in autumn, so that will make 12-13 months wait at least.

Any info about was it already in production?

MIne is 4 weeks in production. Wonder if it got stuck waiting for door panels.

To summarise

Octavia production affected by a fire so door cards not available, delay estimated at 3-4 months, but thousands of earlier cars stored awaiting components.   Unclear if some can be completed using parts intended for others.

Enyaq production stopped since 3/3/22, due to unavailability of parts from Russia or Ukraine.  Nature of missing parts means cannot part build and complete assembly later

Scala and Kamiq production may be stopped due to lack of wiring looms

Further details on link (which is being updated at times)

As already announced, you will be stopping or reducing production. What will happen to customers’ orders?
ŠKODA AUTO’s team of specialists is working hard to secure the supply of missing parts. We will process customers’ orders according to the availability of parts.

How will this affect the availability of models?
We are reviewing and monitoring the situation to ascertain how the availability of specific models will be affected.

Will the availability of vehicles be the same in all markets or will it vary?
We will be processing orders for cars according to the supply of parts.

On what basis, if any, are quotas for allocating cars to the various regions determined?
We produce cars on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the availability of parts.

Which model will now have the shortest and, conversely, the longest waiting time? And how long will the waiting times be?
We are reviewing and continuing to monitor the situation and its impact on waiting times, which have already been affected by the global crisis stemming from the semiconductor shortage.

Are any models and powertrain configurations being prioritised in production?
We are managing our production based on the availability of parts and the queue position of the order.

Well as it looks like I can expect car to be produced somewhere in 2024…maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

True…bla bla bla…and still nothing. I was thinking to call Verovškova if there’s any info…but I’ll wait till the end of month.

I am looking forwards to getting the facelift model as well 😆

I doubt they have any info. When I was about to order, they told me they were the main importer for Slovenia, they can push to have the car faster than the other dealers…Last week when I checked the status I also commented that how come they have no info or power being the main importer, but were fast to find an excuse… I guess we’re still left in the dark.

Mine was at final assembly about 3 weeks ago. It's still showing as that status now. Just got word from the dealer that there's no news good or bad on it. So who knows? But of sh1t show

Guess we're stuck in same situation.

I hope Skoda can give us all a card or something that says “this person isn’t lying they do really have a new Octavia ordered” cause it’s going to get to a point where no one believes me that I have a new car on order 😂

Hi do u know which models the fire has affected- I’m waiting a Kamiq…

Things have moved on since the fire when Russia invaded the Ukraine and car parts and car manufacturing is stopping in factories.

The factory in Russia was producing cars for the Russian market only (which I read was the 2nd largest market for Skoda) - so it has no impact on European models. According to Skoda quoted by media these last days, the factory in Ukraine (partner factory, not Skoda) will only impact the Enyaq IV production for Europe, not other models.

Sorry, I don't remember precisely what were the models that were receiving parts from the factory that burned in Jan. However, it was mentioned in the automotive press at that time - maybe you can find some useful links in the posts on this topic (I also added several links). Kamiq is also assembled in Mlada Boleslav, so it's quite likely that some plastic parts for it were also produced by the Skoda partner that was affected by the fire.

Fire affected is only octavia, but there’s the issue with cable shortage produced in Ukrain. For that they completely stopped the production of Enyaq. But scala and kamiq are also questionable…I’m waiting my kamiq from July 🤷🏻‍♂️

@SkOmk4 I never said anything about the car coming from Russia.

The factories in the Ukraine manufactured parts for Skoda, and that is the important part of it.

Russian and Ukraine supply materials required for the manufacturing of parts.

Why? If there a hundred people inline for cars, but parts can't be sourced for the first ten, then they will build number 11, 12 and so on until the parts for the first 10 arrive.

Both statements can be true at the same time. I don't know why people find it hard to understand.
