  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

Just cancelled my order and gone for a complete change of direction. Good luck to those who have orders in, I hope the situation gets better for you soon. Seems to be a perfect storm in the industry at present and stock motors are like finding hens teeth.

Had a long discussion with my wife over the weekend about not having a clue when it would even potentially be built. We've got a large service to pay in August on the Astra and her car will need serviced and taxed in the next couple of months.

So we've bitten the bullet and bought an 4 month old ex demo Lexus ES300h F Sport. Not a missile like the VRS would have been but should be frugal in town where it will spend most its life. Absolutely gutted to not have one last fast motor but, it is what it is.

Isn't the difference like 40 liters?

Yeah there isn't much difference especially since most loads stay below where the cover is.

Octavia stock is down to 1 car (1.5 mhev manual Ambitition @24.500 euro), but there are 66 Superb in stock (53 diesel, 2 PHEV, 11 petrol)

I'm really surprised to see the stock for Superb in Romania is now up to 104 (66 diesel, 2 PHEV, 36 petrol); I wonder what's the management idea behind this strategy. They build up stock for one model, while under-producing the more demanded one. I can assume some of the electronics (control units) are the same for the two models, just coded differently.

😊 I had a vw touran when kiddos were little. We still have a renault grand espace as a family car, but still doesn’t hurt to have more space.

I ordered a Octavia IV in September last year with a due date of Feb this year.  I've now been told the due date is October!  😡

Welcome mate. What specc and which country?

Thanks.

It's the SE L Model.  1.4 PHEV and ordered in the UK

Absolutely bloody ridiculous.

Plug-ins are receiving more push backs than others or so it seems lately. Some are even getting a 2023 build date…

In the meantime I checked with my dealer again and no changes atm, still in production and due in week 20.

I obviously know I’m not alone here.
but ordered my Vrs estate diesel on 24th sept 2021. Now being told build week on mid sept.
getting fed up with waiting but second hand alternatives are extortionate!

Fingers crossed week 20 doesn't get pushed back for you.

I just find 54 week lead time absolutely ridiculous.  And what's to say it won't get pushed back again eh.

Haven’t Octavia been waiting door panels due to the fire at the component factory.  If they only restarted few days ago it is not surprising that more Superbs have been finished than Octavia.

Car sales figures in UK for 2022 show only 5.7% are diesel, 7.9% PHEV, with 43.6% petrol, so if majority of our stock was diesel it would be wrong.

The remaining 46.5% of sales is split between hybrids 11.7%, full electric 17.7%, and mild hybrids 17.1% so nearly half of Britain cannot get their preferred engine choice as neither Octavia or Superb comes as hybrid or pure electric.

Indeed, that was a major problem for the last two months (Feb. and March), but that factory is running since March 22nd already. However, I doubt that once they recover from the door panel issue there will be no more delays on Octavia deliveries - so they must have some other missing parts. IMO those are mainly electronics.

I also noticed the east-west (Europe) unbalance; southeastern Europe is more diesel-happy than the west, and the brains behind automotive marketing know that very well.

Hm, I thought there would be less of us here eventually, but new cases keep coming…

My friend told me, that beacuse prices are higher in western europe, we get less cars in the east. For example, if 10 cars are made, 8 go to the west and 2 to the east. He knows a guy who works at Skoda. This is not good news for us. Normally, he should be getting a Skoda PHEV in June, because he ordered one (this month), that was already in production. :)

How can you order a car that is already in production? I mean now, as everyone is standing in line and waiting?

the trouble with what you say is that lot   of people are able to jump the waiting list, how and why i do not know it is a complete shambles concerning waiting lists.

I doubt that unless it is a car that has been canceled and entered production time the moment you take over the order. Or a car that the dealer themselves ordered and entered production. Visit your dealer and ask for canceled orders and their status. They will tell you what your options are.

Edit: didnt read the "how" in the sentence :)

I don't know. He said to the dealer that he wants a diesel and that he is not picky about additional equipment. Dealer said, that there is one diesel and one hybrid currently in production, so he changed his mind and ordered the hybrid. He will also pay more, than someone who ordered a year ago. I believe at this point we all know why we are waiting like idiots. :)
