Delivery times?

I don't know if it is luck or just the fact he ordered 2 months later for a higher price. There must be a reason for Skoda reporting this: "Mladá Boleslav, 22 March 2022 – ŠKODA AUTO increased its earnings in the past fiscal year compared to 2020 despite the pandemic and the shortage of semiconductors." Us getting our cars is their last priority, that I am sure of. Keep in mind I know of one more case, where our partner got the car in roughly the same time frame as my coworker and it is an Octavia PHEV.

He is satisfied, no problems so far.

I think the problem is that Skoda are being very business like in their approach, even if it seems unfair to those waiting ages.

Whilst they cannot build cars quickly they have a choice of supplying a more recent customer paying a higher price, or supplying an already unhappy customer paying a lower price.  If they supply the latter, then need to delay newer order so potentially have 2 unhappy customers.

So in a world where can’t build enough, it is commercially sensible to just leave the old orders in a queue, knowing many will eventually cancel.   Not what some want to hear, but least worst choice for Skoda.  Especially if there are no late delivery penalties in contract.

Of course those part built and stored have money invested in them, so completing them and getting paid is beneficial to Skoda.  But doing so requires staff time that means the production line cannot run as normal.

  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

How can they have potentially 2 unhappy customer? It is a just a fact that if they help the person that ordererd first they would only have one unhappy added customer. If they help the new customer they have a bigger risk to lose the old customer for buying a car in the future. Your reasoning that this way is commerciually sensible i do not agree at all.

We are just trying to find some kind of logical explanation of the situation.

Afaik with all the messages, there is no logic at all. And no doubt there are orders pushed forward via via like it is been done on all kind of professions.

Ofc, I had to sign an annexe that the delivery period can last longer than the initial 6 months in the contract. A fellow member who is also from Slovenia mentioned loads of Octys that were being delivered to our Police. I’m sure they had a deadline and some penalties in case the delivery gets delayed. Us mortals can wait.

I agree, it can be option in short-term, however it's total nonsense in long term strategy, because Skoda want a loyal client, who will buy every new model, if you will ignore client who have ordered car I have doubt that they will choose again Skoda. And i think as big VW AG are, they want to play long-term game.

I love how all these assumptions are being made with zero evidence to back them up.

Well, we’ve got plenty of time 😉

Yeah guys, stop feeding your imagination :)

Ask your dealer. Just tell them that a co worker ordered later but received earlier. Tell them you're just curious, not after he's head :)

We have the same dealer. He doesn't have a clue how this is possible and starts complaining, that he ordered his car last spring (understandable) and adds that the whole team is bewildered.

When there is no information about what is going on, imagination is rampant. Whose fault is that? Skoda, :finger:.

Hey, my build week has supposedly been pushed back a bit, from week 22 to week 20. Now as I finally got some info I am nagging my dealer every week 😊. How about you guys, any news?

Monthly update from our dealer yesterday, still no information or build date. He used the wording "heavy delays on new cars" which I'm maybe reading too much into but, sound like they are suffering across the board.

Actually really feel for the guys as their commission is based on needing to sell x number of used, x number of new, x number of products etc. It is then scaled up depending on what they hit, but they need to hit all of them to move up the bands, with no new cars coming through it must be pretty stressful.

I heard that they still sell quite a lot of new cars per month inspite the waiting time.

It's ok, most of us here are waiting for OLD cars 🙃... Some are close to one year (if not longer).
No news on my order.

Yes, maybe I should have used the term delivery week 😊 so delivery around week 20. No details on production stage though.
