Last update from me: I cancelled my order this week and got my downpayment back.

I managed to find a Mazda on stock at a dealer nearby, went for a test drive, liked it a lot and settled for it.

I was a bit disappointed at first I didn't end up with the Skoda, but I can't wait indefinitely for a car to arrive. Also, the Mazda came equipped with almost the same options as the Octavia, plus some extra like blind spot monitoring and ended up costing me 2000 euros less than the Skoda.

So good luck to everyone waiting for their car, I hope the wait is worth it and that you will enjoy you ride once it arrives.

Ordered our VRS PHEV in October 21, was told by lease company it would be April 22, this then got pushed back until May 22. Spoke to the lease company this week who have said they can't get an update from the dealer as they don't know either when it's coming. From what I can gather there's still no build date so delivery is still a distant site far far away 😭.

I'm worried that I'm into my last 12 months of a PCP with BMW that come March next year I'm gonna be without a car because I'm gonna have to give the BMW back to the dealer and leave me car less.

Are you sure you have a PCP ?

No one is forced to give a car back to a dealer at the end of a PCP, you just pay the balance, and when your new car arrives you sell it and pay off any loan you took out.

As used prices are so high in most cases you would sell it for much more than what you owe, so would be daft to hand it back as would lose the monetary gain.

Yeah PCPs have worked well. My lease ended months ago, and I just keep kicking it forward. I don't really want to MOT and run it without warranty so might have to review what to do if it doesn't arrive soon...

I'm now over 8 months in the wait.

Agree with SurreyJohn on this, would be daft to just hand the car back in the current climate. In years gone by when things were "normal" it may have been the best option, for example people with diesel VWs following the diesel emission scandal breaking were stung over badly with cars losing a massive chunk of residual value overnight. The only time a handback makes sense is if your car is upside down which I would genuinely be astonished if it was at present.

With a PCP you have the following options at the end of term.

  1. Hand the car back to the finance company - at present with residual values through the roof this is probably the worst option, you would also potentially be charged for any damage outside of fair wear and tear.
  2. Use the car as a trade in - whatever the dealer offers you is balanced off against whatever the car owes, this is the typical PCP route and can be done at any dealership regardless of where you bought the car.
  3. Pay the balloon payment to keep the car, you can normally do this as a lump sum or essentially refinance and continue to pay what you have been until your new car is ready. Most dealers should be able to assist with this option, especially as they are more than aware of the issues with delays.

During the term of the PCP there is also what is known as the halves rule. These are based on the total value of the finance rather than amount payable. Once you reach half the value you can hand the car back at anytime without penalty (unless the car has damage or isn't properly maintained). But again I would personal advise against a handback in the current climate. It is well within your dealers interest to ensure you still have transport and something to trade in when the new car arrives as they are also struggling for used stock.

I think more or less realiastic delivery date is Q1 2023, because if there is no build date, it's bad news. I Ordered ir 21 august, build date is week 12 of 2023.

Wow that is insane. Not sure if i'm lucky that mine went to production on week 6. Ordered ~3weeks earlier.

Well finally I got some good news about my kamiq…delivery date week 20. With all extras confirmed 😊 fingers crossed heheh

So all together if that’s true it will be 10 months waiting.

Hopefully they will make the cars and not park them waiting for chips. I hope i get some luck too if there are some good changes i don't know about

Would be nice of them to be honest even if the news isn't great. I.e. Yes your car is slotted for production, apologies our estimate is currently X month in 2023.

People only have so much patience of how long they'll wait without a target. Even if they used pessimistic estimates to under promise, people would be delighted to get their cars a bit quicker.

Yes there are issues out of their control but they can manage expectations and further tailor dates to with a "Sorry, here's the issue causing additional delays".

i get a update every friday afternoon in the last update it said 22 april expected delivery.i have had that many push backs.like a lot of others said on here will not believe a word they say until i have the keys in my hand.last updtate was delivery 28/04/22 today.i am at the stage of grin and bear it.to far down the line to cancel and what can i say apart from skoda you are a disgace .

Man… this forum has almost 100 pages. Skoda doesn’t need to read this forum. Just has to see the number of pages to know how ****ty they are. 😂

Oh c’mon, we’re not that boring 😉

Well if I'm struggling to get to sleep I visit this and I soon drift off.

Not our fault that Skoda doesn’t provide the entertainment we need 🤷‍♀️

Well at least you should be thankful for not spending money on sleeping pills…but beware this also can be addictive…and since you are always coming back I assume it’s too late 🤷🏻‍♂️

I do shifts, so one week I can be getting up at 0230, the next I'll be getting into bed at around that time. That can be days a week, although very unlikely to be getting up at 0230 on a Sunday, more likely 0430, but a 0130 back in bed is more likely.

I also have arthritis, so I take a couple of painkillers to get me off to sleep..

Just went out for a walk and this beauties are on the way to ferry Koper….who is going to be the lucky one 😆
